what can you use to clean the whitewalls on tires. lacquer was suggested. now it lacquer paint thinner. also do brillo pads work.

I use a steel brush and scrub along with some westleys bleachie white from wallyworld

Are the wheels clear coated? If so you can use Amazing Roll Off (ARO) on them and the tires, and clean the wheels at the same. For the tires just rinse w/ water and spray w/ ARO clean with a regular tire cleaning brush. For the wheels (if clear coated) also rinse with water, spray ARO on, and gently clean with your favorite wheel brush, or old wheel cleaning mit. Let the ARO do the work, no need for heavy scrubbing. Here's a before/after of ARO used for both tire and wheel. Note the raised white lettering:

Any strong APC, a good scrub brush, and some elbow grease and they be whiter than white!

Westley's Bleche Wite, you can pick it up in any place that has an auto department. Very little if any scrubbing is needed.

Bleach white is awsom. I spray it on, scrub with a stiff nylon brush and rinse off...you can get a gallon concentrate for like 10$ and mix 1 to 1 with water and get 2 gallons for that price.

In the 25 years that I have used the stuff it has never once caused a problem from getting it on rims or paint. Chrome rims, coated alum, and non coated alum have never been damaged.

LOL my bro-in-law once washed his white car with it, you would be amazed how much brighter it made the car. I would never do that but thought I would share.

Mothers Tire and Wheel Brush Kit (I have found similar brushes at dollar stores :xyxthumbs and Amazing Roll Off, or Westley's Bleche Whit from Autozone/Walmart.

I like to spray and agitate each wheel using the longer bristle brush, then go back and use the stiff brush to scrub the tires really well.

I know this is probably not a popular choice but does anyone use the regular rubbermaid scrub brushes on their tires.

the only thing that gets them really white is bleache white..spray and let it sit then scrub with a stiff brush or grill brush

I saw an uncoated wheel etched pretty bad while using it, now the formula may have changed over the years and wheel was dry versus damp. I have never seen that with ARO but still use any product carefully and use precautions indeed.
