I was wondering if anyone here may of had the 3m clear bra installed on there car and what they thought of it .Really intrested installing it on my vette.Chime in

I just looked at a Shelby GT500 (blue with white stripes) in the parking garage of our building and saw that it had the clear plastic bra. The owner didn't get all the wax off the edge so it clearly left a line. Also I noticed it made the paint look like it had orange peel. I'm not sure if that is due to prep before applying it or not. And there was a rock chip on the corner of the hood that went through to clear bra, paint and straight to metal.

My co worker had one installed when he bought his C6 (white )new in 06 and had it replaced twice do to yellowing before he just got his money back. I think he said that was within 6-8 months. And he keeps his garaged and under a cover anytime it is parked outside. (Only 8k on the clock as of now) he opted for the sport mask, I think it is neoprene (black) and likes it much better.

Oh and I saw one on a 911 (white) the other day in the garage and it had turned yellowish. Personally I don't think I would buy one.

I have it on my TSX and I liked it at first, but now I'm getting chips beyond the film and I've been thinking about removing it. It's a little bit of a PITA when waxing and polishing too, plus the car looks better without it IMO.

I think I need to just leave more space between my car, and the car in front of me. :D

Have the clear bra on 06 Rav4 since new 2 and 1/2 years ago. No issues with yellowing or rock chips going through the film. Highway driven by my wife everyday and she likes to tailgate. Wish I had done the whole front end and not just the leading edges of the fenders and the hood.

Pat.

Well thanks for all the input. So far i've seen prices from anywere from $650.00 to a high of $950.00 this is a hard one for sure.Thank you

I paid $150 for 18" on the hood and fenders

I have it on my 2008 infiniti G35X. Paid $275 for full front(not hood) and trunk area bumper. No issues here.

I had it applied to my G35 cpe. that has white pearl paint. So many people say how soft the paint is on Nissan products I figured it wouldn't hurt to give it a try. So far everything is fine, it's been on for about a year, no yellowing and you really have to look hard to even see it, and I'm very careful when waxing as to not get wax along the edges. My installer uses X-Pel film and feels it is superior in that it doesn't yellow and offers better protection then the 3M product. Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking 3M film, only passing on what he told me. Getting the stuff installed properly has a lot to do with the final outcome.

I know abit late for a reply but this monday I just had a clear bra installed on my 09 Black Audi A4 since the car sits pretty low to the floor I found this really good guy that works Dade and Broward and he uses a product called Venture which I hear has been around for years. He gave me a good deal, also he told me he does most of the work for a local dealer here in Coral Gables, Fl that sells high end cars. Let me know if anyone wants his info.
