Clear coat discoloration ?

In 2015 my father backed into something and dented the back he had it repaired. The dent was popped out and don’t believe any repainting was done, maybe just some clear coat was applied, I can’t recall exactly. Now 7 years later it’s turning an unsightly yellow, could this polished out , wet sanding or would it require the panel to be repainted.

I doubt that there is anything you could do to correct the problem you describe, although I'd have to see it to say that is certainly the case.

The only thing I could suggest at this point is that you try some compound or polish on a spot and see what it does. If it makes no change then wet sanding likely won't do anything either. Repainting is probably your only option.
