So i’ve been procrastinating for ever and finally going to do a test.

Dr. Beasley’s Plasma Coat vs Adams Graphene spray coat vsPBL Diamond Surface Coating vs ?

Was going to make 4th Gyeon Can coat but that hardened up. Don’t have CQ lite as had to many lites to use up.

I have Moonlight but it is over year old. According to what I’ve read it should be fine as no change in consistency. Other would be PA Cosmic or Overcoat. OC is v1 so i think that should be out and forgot to order Primer spritz over black friday for Cosmic. Thinking Moonlight.

Any thoughts from the community?

Could probably split 4th section and half/half Cosmic and OC or some other product y’all like to see.

Also I know PBL DSC says 3 years but from what i’ve read comparing to 1 year products makes sense.

So tonight in prep I did a Pure Rinseless followed by a clay with Mother’s OTC clay and splitting the hood using Ceramic speedshine and Meg’s Ceramic QD as lubes. I then did an eraser wipe down.

I skipped iron X as i didn’t feel like hose washing hood and to be honest i’ve never seen a single stream of purple from the three cars i’ve used on.

Note: i did in brake rotors and calipers but not paint or wheels.

I may polish in morning but may not as i feel it won’t hinder performance just looks and i’m not worried about that during winter with Covid won’t be going anywhere much.

Any thoughts by tomorrow 10am PST would be appreciated.

Cool test. :)

Where in the country will this "All Winter Test" be performed?

Hood was never coated and hasn’t seen an LSP in 6 months

Was Washed with a “stripping” rinseless, clayed and erasered yesterday.

Polished. Was going to use essence but did’t any thing left behind so just used up some old Adams correcting polish and a green LC CCS on g15.

Erasered again.
I could not find a cure time for DSC, ML and AGSC need for hours.

Plasma coat cures in one hour but does say you should not get wet for 7 days. Not gonna happen so this is only one that will see a topper ( DRB advanced coat gloss).

All will get roughly 20 hours.

All were applied as recommended by Manufacturer. (Moonlight and DSC kinda vague). Applied 2 coats.

Thoughts on application in order from least to favorite.

TS Moonlight:

Easy to apply. Real grabby on removal (30 sec and 1 min dwell time) strongest chemical scent.

Adam’s Graphene Spray Coating:

Easy on pretty easy off. Longest dwell time at 1-2 minutes. Strong chemical scent.

Dr.Beasley’s Plasma Coat:

This almost was 1 because of the wax like application. Easy removal but kinda greasy. Im sure it was me from over applying. No real odor of note. This is on and off stuff.

PBL Diamond Surface Coating:

At first tried this with MF suede applicator and block. Really grabby. Switch to a Saver applicator and smooth like butter. Kinda melted into paint. Easiest buff off. I’ll feel paint later tonight but can tell this is sooooper slick,

Just added the Dr.s AdvancedCoat: Gloss. Went on easy. The panel kinda soaked it up. Easy buff to a shine.

Awesome test. I have used Moonlight multiple times and it holds up pretty well on my cars during the winter months. I am glad you added it to the line up, I don't think the age will effect it too much if it was stored properly and didn't harden.

Stored inside and. No crystals should be good to go.

Where’s the AdvanceCoat end up on the vehicle?

On top of the Plasma coat. Couldn’t keep it dry for 7 days so figured i’d give it a little support.

Sprinkled today.... nothing exciting.

All looked very glossy but a couple of notes:

Plasma coat:

hit a little different. Don’t know if it’s true what the say about a carnauba look but definitely looked to have more warmth and depth.

Streaked. I mentioned i over apply and gave all a good solid buff but still streaked.

PBL Surface Coat

First off streaked. Musta over applied. Used 4 squirts on half a panel. With it feeling grabby at first over did it. My fault. Still felt slick. Definitely looks stout. In overcast sky you could see were tape lines were looked “thick”? Looked glossy like cQuK3.

Moonlight and Adams graphene:

Group these together as they both finished same. Maybe graphene a little slicker. No streaks. Both user (noob) friendly.

Some too early thoughts and beading shots

Adams GSC

Nice beading. Really nice. Beads roll off nicely when hitting 30+ miles

TacSystems Moonlight

Nice beads as well. Had most water roll off while sitting still. Weirdly did not shed beads best at speed.

PBL Diamond Surface

Decent beading. Beads seem to pool up into bigger beads easier. Not as impressive as other three. Maybe because it didn’t get it’s 7 day cure time...

Pic of Tacs sheeting the beads better....

I've had the same experience with iron removers so far. Only time it turns purple is on the brake system and inside my rims.

I recently got a junk panel from a fire department exercise where they torn apart a dodge ram to save someone inside. The door panel was seriously trashed - i figure it was in the years since it was washed and serious defects. Before i started playing around with my polishers/pads etc i used an iron remover+clay. Not one single speck of purple. It was a waste of time. Clay made a lot of difference of course.

Hey all just a heads up. Car was wrecked a couple weeks ago and insurance totaled out. Test over.

In the short time I had it on Tacs moonlight and Adams Graphene had the best beading and bead roll off at speed.

PBL beading was on par but at speeds could tell the beads of the other two sheeted off faster and i look at this as a indicator of self cleaning.

I definitely over applied and may not had complete wipe off. Also colder when applied so may have been user error.

As for Dr. PlasmaCoat..... I really wanted like this product.

It was old1-2 years i can’t remember but verified with Dr Beasleys it is good for 2 years after opening.

It only got 2 days before getting wet and instructions wanted 7. Also topped with Advanced coat gloss so could be that as well.

Beads were good but not as good as other 3 and sheeting of beads were way behind.

I may try this test again but knew hood is white and I don’t know how well it will photograph.

Thanks all

Sorry about the Mustang, that sucks. Sounds like you are OK though. Wishing you the best.
