What is the best technique for applying this wax by hand?. I have read reviews about it and some say wipe on wipe off, while others say apply to one panel at a time let dry then remove. From what I have read applying to whole vehicle my result in it being very hard to remove but some reviewers say that they have done this and not had any difficulty.
 
Trick: If you ever run into difficulty removing wax, I simply spritz it lightly with spray wax (or detail spray) and it makes removal MUCH easier. Can't answer your questions regarding 476 specifically as I've never used it.

My hand application involves taking an old butter knife and get a tiny bit out (probably no larger than a dime), and rub it into a yellow round sponge applicator pad. Then I work the product into the pad, almost like you're "priming" the pad. This also disperses the product throughout the sponge so you can apply it THIN. You should see a LIGHT haze on the surface. Id guess that 2 dime-sized amounts should cover an entire sedan hood.

I personally let the whole car "haze" and then I wipe off. When I first started using 476, I put it on waaaay too thick, and yes, that was a pain to remove- lesson learned!

One thing I've found with 476 is that two THIN coats back to back (wipe on, haze, wipe off, wipe (new) on, haze, wipe off) still provides very good durability. For even more, I believe folks suggest to wait 12 hours and re-coat.

If you have a DA, it makes putting the product on THIN that much easier and more consistent!
 
I've always gone at #476 with a dampened applicator, whether it be MF or Foam. It will get "dry" as you go, just dampen it a bit again.

It seems to aid in applying thinner coats, and helps the wax glide over the paint easier. Because of this, it then aids with easier removal.

And yes, with this technique, I would typically apply to the entire vehicle, just a walk around, and by the time I was finished applying would begin again back at the start with removal.

Have a few Towels on hand for removal, they do sort of load up with wax as you go.
 
Depends on the temperature and humidity, but down here in Florida I usually wipe the first panel after doing the second panel, then second after doing the third, and so on. If I take too long doing a second panel, then I'll just wipe both before moving to the third.
