Decided to try out the 476 that I've had sitting around for a year or so.

Upon reading through the forums, someone suggested using a credit card to spread the wax onto a pad (I only have 5.5" pads)

I used a black ccs pad, on speed 2. The credit card technique worked perfectly to apply wax to the pad. I put a very thin layer on the car using the 7424 after claying the paint (short on time, so I did absolutely no correction, but needed some protection). After applying the coat to the whole car, I wiped down with some megs mf towels. The product came off VERY easily, contrary to what I read in the forums. I was happy with the ease of application and removal. Topped with aquawax, and it looks great (considering no correction was done)

Thanks to whoever recommended using the credit card to transfer wax from can to pad!

How do you like 476, I am using 845 thinking about trying.:xyxthumbs:

•I'm kinda wondering about the following:

-why you "topped" (seemingly right away) the
Collinite #476 with Aquawax;

-which of these two products (#476/Aquawax) is
actually the one responsible for the great looks.

That is:
"Does the last product that's applied:
Tend to cover-up; that is to say: hide"?

Yeah I wouldn't have topped #476 right away because everything needs to cure, including #476. I see no problem with topping #476 after a little while though but you need to determine that based on how the finish is looking.

2 coats of #476 got me through this past winter and it did a great job!

Last year I used the 845 on my car, and loved it. The durability was great. In terms of looks, I believe the 845 and the 476 seem about the same. Once I have a chance to work on my girlfriends car, Im thinking about trying to do a side by side to see if there is a difference in looks. Typically in the summer, I like using Carnauba waxes (mother's gold glass is actually one of my favorites, but durability is not very good, but in the summer, I have the chance to wax more, so I dont mind). My car is a nautical blue TC, and my GFs car is a red highlander, so I like the depth/darkness that carnauba adds.

Roger - In all honesty, I had a total brain fart, and applied AquaWax like within 20 minutes of finishing the 476s. I wish i would have waited, but, im sure i'll be redoing it again anyways. Since I didn't polish, I wanted to try to "fill" some of the swirls. I bought a gallon of AquaWax, since Megs UQW is not available in gallons (and I cant get a solid answer on if D156 is the same or not). In my opinion, both work really well, but UQW hides a lot of very minor defects (temporarily of course).

Ill try to do a side by side of 476s/845 next time i have some free time.

Here are some pictures (i didnt take many, just a couple reflection and beading shots):

same here...i love the 845...very curious on the 476 and 915

I used 476 and 915 but not 845 yet. IMO 915 has the warmest glow and depth and wet look (that's why it's a little more and the concourse wax), however, both are excellent.

I used a 4" Red LC Hydrotech (or whatever color they call it) with my PC7424 XP speed setting 2. The 915 looks excellent on Black. However, due to lighting conditions (I was at my buddies house and lighting was not perfect especially in the evening) I put 915 on thick in some areas and thin in others. IT NEEDS TO BE PUT ON THIN!!!! If it is put on thick it is very difficult to remove. If it is applied thin then no problem. Looks awesome though.

I use 476 (I applied in my garage which is set up perfectly for me) with a 3" LC CCS Pad on a blue MB. Same DA same speed setting. It was put on thin and looked great!!

My point being Collinite prodcuts are awesome. Just apply it thin. As for the 845 liquid wax....I have it; but have not used it...yet. I am assuming it will be excellent too.

I think 915 will be the next one I try.

As far as cure time, I remember reading in a thread somewhere that 12 hours was recommended.

Megs UQW is.... D156.... is Meg's Synthetic X-Press Spray Wax. Recently purchased the 2 Gallon w/ Spray Bottle Deal here on AGO.

hope it helps

Bob

Just applied 476 to my baby yesterday and plan on a second coat asap, though I don't' mind the first coat curing. Bob is old school and I like that, I'm old school. Yes I love touching my car, but considering the audience, I'm right there with you. Collinite is definitly old school product and mentality. I love that, some may not, that's why the create coatings. Take care.

Peace,

Darrin
