Hello. I'm looking to put a coat of wax on my white 2010 Impala. I drive about 6 miles on gravel daily, and park the car outside. I plan to do a clay bar treatment, and use iron remover spray, as there are some bonded contaminants. The car wasn't maintained very well by the previous owner

I'm looking for a wax to help make removal of dust from the gravel road easier, it tends to stick. I'm also looking for a wax that will last a good long while in these conditions. It looks like Collinite 476 and Hi Temp paste wax appear to fit the bill.

I would apply by hand, as I don't have a DA buffer at this point.

Thoughts?

As a guy who drives down gravel roads for miles on end.........there is NO wax that is a dust repellent on hard roads...
You could use a blower to help remove dust before it becomes wet....I do it all the time

I would say...after you do your hand wax...keep it up with a good SIO2 topper to help.

Agree on the wax/dust comment. Waxes and wax/sealant blends like the Collinite products are dust and pollen magnets.

I liked Collinite 845, but was really surprised by how much cleaner my cars stayed and how much easier they were to clean after moving to a coating.

Thanks, That's helpful .

I realize no wax or coating would repel the dust, but I was hoping for a product that would simplify removal of the dust, at a minimum. For instance, rinse with the hose every few days to remove accumulated dust. Is that realistic to expect of either of these products ?

What's an example of a good SiO2 topper ?

If a coating is the better route, are we talking about a ceramic coating? What's a good product in that category?

The problem with rinsing dust every few days you will still have to use a soap of some kind and then have to do a contact wash (and dry) or you will wind up with more of a mess then just having dust...
Water rinse with dirt/dust just creates a spotted mess that looks like chit..

If you don't mind the work, then for sure wash it every few days, at least then you will get good results...

Griots 3 in 1 is a good SIO2
Sonax 257400 Ceramic Spray
Nu finish "Graphene"

I don't mess with ceramic coatings myself

For ease of cleaning, you may want to look at a coating. For ease of coating application, you may want to go with Gyeon CanCoat or CQuartz Lite. You could always top with a topper such as Boskos suggested though that will somewhat mask the water and dirt repelling properties of the underlying coating.

Or pave the 6 miles of dirt road.....LOL:xyxthumbs:
