collinite 845 over a paint sealant?

I'm looking into getting a wax with my next purchase to put over a paint sealant (most likely menzerna powerlock).

Is there any point putting collinite 845 over the top of powerlock, or should I be looking at a different wax, like signature series II or something. Don't want to spend "too" much, also, the easier to apply the better hahaha
 
The only point of putting 845 over PL would be extra durability. Why not just put down two coats of Power Lock 12 hours apart? 845 isn't the easiest to apply for new users, but you'll get the hang of it.

Also are you looking for more durability or just looks? If durability might as well get some 845. If for looks, get a carnauba paste wax.
 
I was thinking the powerlock for the durability, then something on top for the looks.

Sounds like 2 coats of powerlock then a wax. So, best wax under $50? (epic argument begins hahaha)

+1 on the Max Wax! It's such a great wax for $30.

Some others I wouldn't overlook are Chemical Guys 5050, Blackfire Midnight Sun 3 oz., Fuzion 3 oz., P21S Concours, and the Poorboy's Natty line.
 
if you want to go budget wax thats good,

$15-20: XXX, S100 Wax, Finish Kare 1000P
$40: MAX WAX, Pete 53
$50 on the dot: Pinnacle Sig Series II, CG 50/50, or P21S 100% Concours

FK 1000P isn't a Nuba, its a Synthetic and if he has a sealant on and wants to top with a Nuba he doesn't want FK 1000P. And DP Max Wax is $30 right now. Just sayin.:xyxthumbs:
 
If it's for looks, my opinion, get a different wax - 845 leaves a very bright and reflective look instead of the usual carnauba depth and glow.
 
I agree with umi000. I love colli 845 for its durability, but its looks are more sealant-like to me, as in its glossier than it is deep. Meg's mirror glaze *26 Hi-Tech yellow wax is pretty easyto work with, under $20, and gives a Very deep wet look but has pretty poor durability. Recently, tho, I tried 3M's Perfect-it show car paste wax, and loved it. Its a great midline between shine and depth, easy to work with, and also under $20. Cant speak on its durability yet, but it shows some great beading
 
I read a post from Bunky on another forum and he said something to the effect why put on a sealant and then put wax over it. If you do this you can't put on another coat of sealant. I really like the idea of whenever I need another coat of sealant I can put it right over the top of my last one. To me it is much easier to put on sealant than wax. I use Menzerna Power Lock also and I think it looks great as a stand alone.

And this is something I agree with as well. I don't really do the whole sealant + wax thing anymore; sure, I'll put on two layers of the same wax or sealant for even and complete coverage, but I don't really see the need to "layer" multiple products. I especially don't see the point of using what I consider as "beauty" sealants, such as MPL, BFWD, WGDGPS, etc. as a sealant base - if you're going to be covering it up anyway, why not use a more durable product, such as the Klasse twins, Duragloss, FK1000P, or Zaino as your base?
 
Cool, thanks heaps guys! Sounds like two layers of powerlock might keep me happy :) Also, at the price, i might grab some Max Wax to have a play with, what do i really have to lose ;)
 
If you want to just play with and try a carnuba you can pick up a can of Mothers carnuba paste OTC cheap and gets greats reviews from what I read.
 
I've also read good things about Meguiar's M26. Again, not particularly durable, but looks pretty good.
