Collinite paste wax #885

Any tips or secrets for applying this wax with out streaking. I know all the ideal conditions, but can still be hit of miss, I prefer not to use a buffer to clean off the wax. A lot of the time I have to apply it in regardless if its too hot or cold etc...

Are you working by hand? I haven't worked specifically with this wax but have used other paste waxes. Usually streaking will occur when working on a hot car like in the sun or applying it too thick. Yes I know we dont always get ideal conditions but try to change what you can. Time of day, work in the shade, rinse off a panel to cool it etc.

I find the best way for me to apply an even thin coat of wax is by machine.

I haven't used 885, but I've spread a bit of 476, both by hand and machine. As with any Collinite product, thin, thin, thin is best.
The description from the AG store sounds like good info to follow: "Collinite Paste Fleetwax # 885 is a thick paste wax. For the easiest application, by hand or machine, dampen the applicator. Use a soft, clean Cobra Microfiber Towel to buff off the wax before it dries."

Thanks for the advice, I didn't mention its for gelcoat/Fiberglass, topside marine paints. It can streak on any surface. I like to hand apply it cause it gives it a harder shine.The buffer wilI tend to smear and make swirls of the wax.I have read to apply very thin non overlapping and small work area. It's more noticeable on areas you look up at, the hull doesn't really show, I always want to make it as perfect as I can. I usually like applying in sunlight then you can see right away if its setting properly. I try to avoid the surface being to hot or cold, but some times there's no choice. I love this wax and would not use anything else for its durability and shine.
