While researching 915 on this site and other forums, I noticed some conflicting info regarding 915 and 476. So rather than just ask the question to members again, I thought I would just email Collinite directly and see what they had to say. BTW, from the time I submitted my question until Patrick Taylor responded: 8 minutes. NIIIIIICCE.
My email:
Hi, I currently own and like the 845 wax, but am thinking about purchasing the 915 for my black vehicles. Upon searching reviews on detailing forums, several people stated they spoke to Collinite reps, who reportedly advised that 915 was simply 476 in fancier packaging and with more scent. Some people stated they were advised by Collnite reps that 915 was for people that insisted on spending more money, but that 476 was the same for less cost.
I read your FAQ's, which of course gives a different view. Before I spend the extra for the 915, can you confirm any of these rumors or is this just detailing forum b.s.? Thank you, and keep up the good work!
And his very prompt response:
Trevor,
Thanks for the email. Many times, things get misconstrued over forums as well as over the phone. This is mainly because, as a LSP paste with similar durability, the No. 915 serves the same basic function as the No. 476s, so many times we'll tell people over the phone theres no need to get the No. 915 if the car is a lighter tone (where the added carnauba content and higher gloss would might not even be noticeable like it might on darker tones).
The No. 915 does in fact contain more carnauba wax-about 15% more than the No. 476s to be exact. That, along with it being in a larger tin (12 oz vs 9oz), and the perfume, are the reasoning behind the higher price.
If you have any questions feel free to call us, and thanks for your interest and use of our products.

Again, I'm happy with the quick response, and I trust the source! So in case anyone was debating this question themselves, there ya go!
