Correction on 2003 Lincoln LS

Has anyone ever corrected paint on a Lincoln LS. I have a 2003 and although it's in very good condition and has albeit a few light swirl marks from improper washing (before I purchased car.) I used a blue edge pad and optimum hyper compound and hyper polish with a flex 3401 VRG. Didn't really get the results I was looking for. Would I be better off using wolfgang total swirl remover 3.0? Maybe these Lincoln's have a very hard clear coat then usual. I would appreciate anybody imput on this. I'm new to machine polishing and need some advice.
