First, i recently bought a used car, and when it cools down enough im going to be doing a paint correction. Im having a hard time figuring out how to remove the bad spots of touch up paint they used. Its in no way smooth, and i feel like i need to find a way to smooth it down and make it look better.

Any ideas?

My second question is kinda weird, but how do u guys keep from using too much product? I feel like i use a TON of product when working(especially sprays). I used like 6oz of CG v7 on a single application. Wheel and tire cleaners get overused as well.

Do you guys have a typical amount per panel or wheel that u use(assuming its not a crazy dirty wheel)?

Shawn

As far as your paint sounds like some sanding is needed, others may know better.

Typically with any spray product i use one or two sprays per panel, depending on their size but no more than two. For polishes and Cleaners via DA, I usually use a few drops or a circle, again depending on the product and technique I am using.

Hi Shawn,

  1. For touch up paint that's put on this and actually above the surrounding area, take some mashing tape and cover the adjacent area in order to protect it.
  2. Fold some 600 to 800 grit paper around a firm sanding block and use plenty of water as you progress.
  3. Proceed slowly and bump the grit up to 2000 and blend
Richy did a great writeup on scratch repair that easily can be used for cleaning up your touch up situation, the same principal applies....:props:

Chemical Guy's V7 is a sealant and a light spray on a Microfiber towel is all that's needed . about an ounce or two should be plenty to cover an entire car. If the cloth becomes over saturated you risk over application and streaking....plus wasting good product...

3 sprays on a clean dry microfiber towel should be sufficient to protect an entire hood...:props:

I most cases when you think you're using too much you're using way too much.
