I just picked up a cr spotless , 1-20" canister , not a dual . supposed to good for 200 gallons at a so so ppm tds level . I measured my city water and got 112 ppm . is this considered decent soft water? is measuring tds reading a way to note hard/soft water ? I'm hoping I don't have to change filters so often . also I can use a tank setup which I can get ro water from my work place, and then run that through the cr spotless then . that has a tds reading of 2-3 ppm . anyone give me some feedback on soft/hard water ... , tds readings . what this all means .

112 PPM is about 6.5 grains, which is fairly soft. If you can get RO water, I'm not even sure that's worth running through the CR.

One thing I learned is your water hardness may vary over time for whatever reason, whether it's seasonal or which reservoir the water company is drawing from.
