this is a crazy question...I am a senior who likes to keep my car looking great....the problem is its stays outside 24/7....I am looking for a light cover ...easy to put on...and take off...going to be 79 in July...please help

They sell Covercraft covers here at Autogeek and Covercraft makes a wide variety of them using different materials depending upon the application. Check out Covercraft's web site first to pick the right material for your situation. Their "Noah" model is a good outdoor cover which works in a variety of conditions.

Since it's for outside use you'll want some way to secure the cover if/when its windy. The clip-on "Gust Guard" anchors that Covercraft sell do not work as advertised - best to add some grommets on each side and string rope between them to secure the cover.

I had the gust guard clamps or whatever you want to call them from Covercraft, they were crap. They all snapped-broke in very short time. I found better at wally world in their RV section for 1/2 the price, and twice as durable.

A least get a Security Cable, and throw a Padlock on it. If, at 79, you can get down on your hands and knees and attach one, then OK. And no, I'm not saying that to be rude, but if you want to wake up the next morning, and see a cover still on your ride, best to have such. Don't learn the hard way. "The eyes of Texas are upon you!" LOL

"Light Covers", and "Inexpensive Covers" are two terms that commonly don't go with an outdoor quality Covercraft Cover. To get such, and that will last a couple-few years, you're going to drop 5 or 6 big ones.
Ask me how I know?

Oh, and I had the NOAH, I was not that impressed with it. It's like a paper towel material, not woven.

Thanks for your reply....yesterday I washed the car....put Wolfgang SIO2 on it...and this morning I went downstairs and sure as crap the sprinklers were on ...windy and the car was covered with sulfur water...wasn't to happy...so I had to wipe the whole car off...thats why I need a cover...

Are these your neighbors sprinklers?

When I used to cover my car I used both a Noah and a Weathershield, one on top of the other. They definitely kept rain out while remaining breathable

Well, the material in the NOAH is made by Kimberly Clark, who also happens to make Kleenex, Cottonelle, etc. :)

However, it's a light-weight high-tech material that will not only repel water but also is very breathable, a combo that is not easy to produce. Covercraft backs it with a 4 year warranty, so they must have some confidence in it.

If you have concerns about which material you want in a cover, Covercraft will send you material samples.

No we live in a Condo....we have a one car garage and my wife's car is in there...but the driveway where my car is ...is next to the sprinklers...

I used to keep a car cover on our Mercedes-Benz. We live in a Condo an the SUN is absolute TORTURE to a car that sits outside in full sun 24 hours a day- 7 days a week.

What I did was asked Andre, (Customer Care Staff), here at Autogeek, who has a LOT of experience matching the CORRECT type of car cover for the intended use to pick out the correct car cover brand and type for my use and then trusted him and bought it. Then learned how to put it on correctly and take it off correctly to limit scuffing. There are a LOT of different types of car covers and it's important to get the right cover for your applications. There's a huge difference between a car cover for a garage kept car and a car parked outside in areas of lots of sun and lots of rain.

AND just as important - YOU MUST have a clean place to store the cover when it's off the car. You can't ball-it-up and toss it onto the garage floor. You either need to keep your TRUNK CLEAN and store it there or purchase a large plastic tub with a lid and KEEP IT CLEAN and then store it in here when not in use.

It saved the stupid black anodized metal trim from oxidizing and getting the rainbow stain appearance. It also saved the paint and the interior.

Scratching

When the wind blows, and it blows a lot here in Stuart, Florida - even when correctly installed - the cover is going to shift and rub on the car paint. I found the handful of places where it takes place the most and periodically after washing the car I would simply machine polish and re-coat. I kept Pinnacle Black Label Paint Coating and PBL Surface Coating on this car the entire time we owned it.

Loved the car - hated the normal over-engineering, which included the stupid ABC Leveling System. Hey Mercedes-Benz - they are called springs and shock absorbers!

Best of luck to you and here's Andre's number
