I have been using Megs wheel brightner with great sucess, Only on really bad wheels though. I use soap and water on the not so bad wheels just because its more safe. My question is i know i cant use the wheel brightner on aluminim wheels what cleaner is good and safe for aluminum wheels when soap and water wont tackle the tough brake dust. Also is aluminum the only metal wheel brightner cannot be used on? One other question i have is, I've been using megs quick detailer when i wax for the hard to remove wax from the surface makes taking it off alot easier. My question is does megs sell a gallon of quick detailer or anything in that nature? Is the final touch like the same thing? Thanks in advance for your replies its greatly appreciated.

WB shouldn't be used on Anodized wheels or bare aluminum.

Meguiar's makes Hot Rims Aluminum Wheel Cleaner or if you can find it still, Multi Piece Wheel Cleaner. It's mild and works great on non coated wheels. I use them on all my wheels actually....I need to get me some WB someday, good stuff!

I currenly use Last touch diluted 1:1 for claying and straight for QD'ing duties. Cheap and works great. I used to buy QD in the 32oz bottle at our local Schucks (Schucks/Kragen/Checker/O'Reilly). But a gallon of LT diluted and straight goes a lot farther.

Wheel Brightener is a very good wheel cleaner but as Nappers posted, it does contain some acid for cleaning power and should not be used on

Uncoated Aluminum - Polished or machined
Anodized Aluminum
Uncoated Magnesium

Also it's important to correctly dilute this product before use and use the appropriate safety precautions whenever you use ANY wheel cleaner, for example chemical resistant gloves and safety goggles to protect your eyes.

P21S offers a non-acid wheel cleaner that is a gel for long dwell time on the surface, the dwell time enables you to leave the product on the surface where the cleaners can go to work dissolving and loosening the hold the brake dust and road grime have on the surface and then you can rinse the wheels off with water.

The Pinnacle Gel Wheel Cleaner is also a non-acid gel style wheel cleaner.

See above answer...

Meguiar's sells a number of different mist and wipe products generically referred to as quick detailers. Maybe look into the Last Touch or M135 Spray Detailer as these both come in gallons.

The biggest difference between these two is that the new M135 contains the watery-fearing Hydrophobic Polymers in which water tries to get away from any surface treated with this product and Last Touch can be diluted 50/50 with water to use it as a clay lube.

:)

P21S Gel is a great wheel cleaner that is safe for all wheels because of the pH-neutral formula. But it is very expensive so you may not like it, but it's super safe and super effective when you let it dwell up to two hours...the longer it dwells, the better it cleans.

I was reading somewhere that you can add baking soda to the megs wheel brightner and balance the PH and make it safe for other wheel surfaces is this true or do i have it wrong is the baking soda used for another reason? Thanks

I've never heard of this and would never recommend it as an approved procedure and I'm confident Meguiar's would never recommend it either.
