Is the grass greener on the other side?

I've only used flat pads from LC and B&S. It's about time to buy more pads. Why would someone buy a hex, CCS, or waffle pad over a regular flat pad? Other than a cooler pad, what are the differences i will see when i'm polishing?

Some generate more or less heat, some hold polish/wax better so you get more even coverage, some are easier to wash.

If you ask me they all have the potential to produce the same result as long as your using the right aggressiveness, coarse fine etc.

Not that I have an answer for you, but what polisher are you using? It may make a difference.

And "the grass is always greener"; I've been useing the LC flat pads and have thought maybe the B&S might be better. How do you think they compare, or are they basically the same in your opinion?

I use flat pads exclusivley. Went down the other road and came back to flat pads.

CCS - hate it
Hex - not bad
Flat - esta mi favorito!

Using a Flex 3401. I don't remember why i switched to B&S. It's been a while since i switched so i dont remember precisely, but i dont remember any perceivable difference in performance. I'll probably continue to get flat B&S pads, just wanted to hear other peoples opinion.

B & S flat pads are my go to pads these days. I like the foam and their epoxy adhesive to the felt kicks butt.

Lake Country Hybrid pads are my favorite on a Flex 3401.

Never had a B&S pad fail on me even when I inadvertently abused them (lengthy polishing sessions at speed 6 on a GG6) when I first started machine polishing

I prefer varigated, or dimpled pads for heavy cutting and polishing. They run cooler, reduce surface tension, and reduce the chance for product splatter. I use flats to apply sealants.

Buff and Shine manufactures Hex Logic pads for CG.

You can get Hex Face eurpean foam Buff and Shine pads here in the McKees 37 line if you want to try them. They'll fit on a stock 3401 plate.

I use all CCS. They just work for me on my Flex 3401. I have flat pads for my GG3.

Flat pads are the best and certainly provide superior cut over other technology pads. Also they tend to outlast other type pads too.
