Custom Flames on Black Mustang by Mark Phillips

My brother owns his own body shop in Astoria, Oregon and over the weekend he sent me these pictures of a custom flame job he sprayed on a black Mustang for one of his customers...

Nice work Mark...

Wow those are very very good!

Pat your brother on the back for me the next time you see him.

Super job for sure. I have always liked flames, thou I've never owned a ride worthy of them. Flames on a 2.8L Colorado....Not so much. HeHe

Same here, but not so sure how good flames would look on my corolla or my ladies prius! ;)

Very nice! A lot of intricate airbrush work. I wonder how long this job took him to spray?

I can ask him...

He paints a lot of hot rods and in the past built and painted custom choppers.

What's funny is when we were growing up he always thought I was wasting my time working on cars and then he ends up owning his own shop working on cars...

What a treat it is seeing painted-flames...
Instead of a bunch of decals!!

-Your Brother does excellent work Mike. :dblthumb2:

-Wish he lived closer...perhap he'd be interested in spraying some ghost-flames on a vehicle I have in mind.

That's pretty funny, Mike...I kind of thought when I saw this thread that you got your start buffing in your brother's shop, but I guess not.

Funny how that works out, huh?

I'm just a naturally curious person & have had the privilege of watching a local airbrush artist (Von Otto) work on a few projects & the time involved is tremendous. Not to mention the talent required!

Those are some really good true fire flames.
It takes a great amount of skill with a lot of practice to make flames like that. The last picture is really cool because something is hidden in the fire and I didn't notice until my 3rd look.
Each paint job will get more and more intricate.

I've worked on a lot of flame jobs and you're right, these are very well done, I'll ask him how much time he put into this as I think a lot of people will be interested.

I agree...

Took me a few second looks to make sure I was seeing what I was seeing...

:D

Very nice work Mike, I've always been a fan of soft flames! :props:

Do you know how much clear was applied over the flames?
