I'm actually looking for furniture and ideas to make my waiting area more comfortable and relaxing for the customers that come to my shop. Do any of the profession detailers with waiting areas have pics they are willing to post. I'll post mine as soon as the room is done.:dblthumb2:

So no one has put any thought in they're waiting areas? In my opinion its the part of your shop your customers spend the most time in, especially when I will not be letting the customers free roam around the shop.

I was thinking a flat screen TV, a couple comfortable couches, free wifi hotspot, and a shelf setup in the back with a display of the products I use and will sell. I'm even talking to a local vendor in bringing in his machines to put in the waiting area.

To me it seems that should have as much thought put into it as you would the actual setup of your actual shop.

Have some magazines available and wifi would be a nice addition as mentioned. Some wall art that fits the working environment would be a nice touch.

I don't have a shop, but before I started my detailing business, I always went to this place that served complimentary beverages (all the time; water, soda, juice, coffee, etc.) and bagels on the weekends.

I believe he purchased the drinks at Costco (across the street) and rented some cooler machines. It's was a small touch that REALLY made me enjoy going there.

I think it depends greatly on how often and how many people you have waiting. If you are a product type shop where you have tons of people waiting everyday, then it makes sense to get some nice furniture, coffee machine, soda/snack machine, and maybe even a tv with cable. However if you do mostly bigger jobs that people don't generally wait for, it might not be a great investment to go all out on a waiting area that most customer will only see when they drop off and pick up their cars.

Either way it would be a good idea to at least have a sofa, coffee machine, and a few magazines to set out in case someone needs to wait for a ride or something like that.

Why pick? A successful shop should have both. The production detailing you can oversee that your employees do, and the big jobs that bring out the level of perfection that only the most dedicated detailers can achieve. At least that is my goal.
