DA/Rotary backing plate adapter

I see this adaptor in the AG store that will allow you to put a rotary backing plate on a DA polisher. Is this simply so one can use a rotary backing plate if they don't have a DA plate on hand?? Or is there another specific reason why one would want to do this?? I'm just curious.

yes. i personally don't like using an adapter with a backing plate because they start to come loose and if you aren't careful it can fly off and damage the paint. use with caution if one decides to do so...

I use one for a 1" or 2" plate.
None that size for a standard DA
