This spring I did a thorough clean-up of my new-to-me 2006 Mazda MX-5. It was early May of 2013.

I did a complete decon with IronX and clay a light polish and then waxed with Pinnacle SS II. I was very impressed with the easy on, easy off and gorgeous shine on metallic green paint. Got many compliments at events this summer while the car was shining like an emerald in the sun.

I always kept my car in my garage at home and at work. The only time it really sat out in the sun was during my commute or out driving on a weekend.

I did a monthly maintenance wash with Optimum Car Wash, followed with a Crystal Mist wipe down.

My last wash before storage this weekend, the car was still beading water nicely, and still looked great. Maybe due to the Optimum + Crystal Mist? I can't imagine a hybrid wax lasting 6 months...or can it?

Either way, I have been very impressed with the longevity of this wax, the looks, the application, everything. Never used a wax I liked so much on a car.

Before putting it away for our long winter I put on a new coat of SSII, and cleaned the car top to bottom, in and out.

While driving it around last night, I couldn't believe the reflections coming off the hood. Just beautiful.

Here are a couple pics. I'm not a photographer...I'm just an engineer... :buffing:

Last Saturday after waxing:

My plan for my DD's (Accord and Pilot) is to use WGDGPS 3.0 (which I love-another great product), and then top them off with the SSII.

Any thoughts on whether the SSII would look good on Honda's Dark Amber Metallic?

Happy detailing!

SSII is an awesome wax, especially for that price point! Looks amazing on silver and metallic paint as well!

SSII is a super product. I'd say go for it on your Honda.

I've always been impressed with Pinnacle Signature Series II.
Same goes for WGDGPS 3.0!

No doubt in my mind that either one (or both)
would make: Dark Amber Metallic look great.
Just fine-polish it up first.

Instead of using the Pinnacle Paintwork Cleansing Lotion before applying the wax, would it be sufficient to use Klasse AIO since I already have that?

Meghan - Thanks, it certainly is! I was trying to decide between Souveran, Max DP and a few others and settled on the SSII due to the outstanding value others had mentioned in their reviews of this product. I was not just satisfied with the performance, but surprised and delighted.

Finemess and Bob - Thanks, I'm excited to get the Pilot with the Dark Amber polished up - has a few scratches, but I'm pretty sure I can clean 'er up!

Mike - Thanks! I'm real happy my paint system is one it plays well with! :D And, yeah, I'll work on some better pics next year - hard to do this stuff justice!

rouxster - like so many other things - (painting walls or cars pop into mind) the prep work determines to a large degree the overall success of your final product. :buffing:

What you want is clean smooth paint before you apply your LSP. Have you had a thorough wash and removed all bugs/tar? Have you decontaminated the paint with IronX and/or a clay bar?

If so, then I would say that using an AIO as a general prep for an LSP is a solid way to go! :dblthumb2:

I've never personally tried Klasse AIO, so maybe someone here with some experience with that product can give you some guidance.

Any thoughts on SSII legitimately lasting 6 months? Or was that all in my head? :)
