New GMC Denali 2500HD in for paint correction and CQuartz Finest long term coating. I swore I'd never do another large black truck after the last one but this truck belongs to a very good client and I couldn't say no. ;)

Dealer hacked this one up real good!!!

Process:

Wash - Megs D114
Wheels - Sonax Wheel Cleaner Plus & various brushes.
Tires - Cleaned with Megs D143 and Tuf-Shine brush. Dressed with Megs Hyper Dressing
Paint Prep - Nanos Skin Towel and Glide as lube
Paint Correction - M205 on the G21 with Megs MFFP followed by HD 502 on the G15 with yellow BOSS pads. Tight areas done with Rupes LHR75e and Flex PE14
Chrome - Optimum Metal Polish
Glass- Megs D120
Coating Prep - CarPro Essence with a black BOSS foam pad
Coating - 2 coats CQuartz Finest

Thanks guys :dblthumb2:

Do u feel the 205 was necessary before the Essence?

Yes! This was a Finest job and as a Finest installer we are responsible for making sure the paint is perfected prior to coating. I only use Essence as a primer for Finest jobs and not as a finishing polish, though it does still enhance the look.

This paint was actually really weird and a PITA. Many of the compound polish combos I tried would not wipe off easily, or at all like the HD Cut+ test spot below.

There was also a lot of deep RIDS in the areas the dealer hadn't polished

Because of this I chose to use M205 as a compound with Meguiar's MF Finishing pads, which is a technique Kevin Brown shared a few years ago. This step cut well and wiped off with ease, but also left a pretty deep DA haze which required a finishing step. Many of the finishing polishes were drying up too so I ended up using 3D's 502 polish for that step. :props:

See, I'm the opposite... I love these big ass black trucks! It's like a proving ground lol.

If you do this full time that would be a great opportunity to seek out some extra work from the dealer, being that they are horrible it's a huge advantage for you.awesome work.

I'm just a part time hack! :D

I did work for dealers back in the 90's when I was full time and honestly hated dealing with them...not something I'd ever want to do again.

The owner did send them some before and after pics and told them they'd never touch his truck again. :props:
