Dealership Tire Slime - Always a pain to remove...

I don't know what they use but it's gross and looks ugly on the tires.

This is my friend Tom's 2017 Mercedes-Benz S 550 with a value of around $100,000.00 - it came with the dealership applied tire slime. I used this car to test out and review a number of new GTechniq products including their new GTechniq T1 Tire & Trim dressing.

I always wash the wheels and tires first, it only makes sense to me to start with the wheel and tires first and then move to the top and work my way down. So before I started I inspected the wheels and tires so I would know what products and tools I would need to get them clean and while the wheels were fairly clean the tires were slimed with some type of tire dressing.

To get them clean so I could apply the GTechniq Tyre Shine here's what I used. This is my go-to tire cleaner and tire cleaning brush when I need to remove the tire slime someone else has applied to the tires.

The tire cleaner works as good as any and better than most and the key to scrubbing tires by hand is to use a brush with LOW profile or SHORT bristles as it makes it easier for your muscles to scrub or move the brush back and forth over a vertical tire sidewall.

When detailing your own car or a customer's car, these two products perform consistently and that's key to working fast and efficient.

:)

Your tip on using the carpet scrubber attachment on a da has save me so much time removing the slop that the dealers use. Sometimes it takes 3-5 times to clean the tire, if you don't get it all off the tires will finish unevenly and look terrible. Thanks for that tip Mike!

Thanks Mike. The Tuf Shine tire cleaner is my top tire cleaner. The McKee's 37 one is right behind it.

agreed, though i like using this brush better for tires (bristles are a little stiffer) but both will do the job...

I have found that stoners tarminator is very effective at removing old dressing
