A buddy of mine went to a Dealership and told the Service Writer NOT to wash his Denali, but they did anyways... despite what the sign said in the Drive-thru Lane...

Did you not notice the bad English, or poor choice of words... and the fact that he didn't want his Denali washed, but they did anyways, despite what the sign says?

I don't think anybody on this site, gets their vehicle washed by a Dealership Scratch n' Buff machine?

Tell me which part confuses you ?

I brought my wifes car into the dealer for some warranty work. I took the girl around the car to look at it. Showed her the flawless paint that I spent hours on. I then specifically stated not to wash it. When it was done I got it back dripping wet from the wash with a larger scratch in the door panel. I made them re-paint it because it was deep. They tried telling me they can get it out w/a rotary.

I told them I do this on the side also, so don't bulls**t me. A few days later I get the car back. They pull it in again dripping wet from the wash. I inspected it, but didn't see anything until the next day after I washed it myself. There was buffer trail all over the door along with dried compund. I don't know what they did, but they did paint it.

To make a long story short. DEALERS SUCK!!

Agreed !

Dealership Scratch n' Buff's suck the big one.

I also would like to correct my statement made earlier...

I've gotta say, it does suck when they don't listen.

But my dealer is pretty good, not only do they obey my request (I also put HUGE signs in the front and rear window saying "DO NOT WASH THIS CAR!!!"), but, the dealership shuttle driver who gave me a ride to University while my car was being serviced)- his dad also orders stuff from AutoGeek...small world!!

Oh, and when my dad didn't tell the dealer not to wash his car, they only cleaned it with a foam gun and a pressure washer so it had no swirls. Lovely!

i brought my Escalade in for a recall and i got it back with scratches. they had me bring it back to be sent for a repaint of the panel. When I got it back it was all swirled up and hazed out where the repair was done. It went back again. When I picked it up this time I found that they wet sanded out all of the orange peel in that panel. now it doesn't match the rest of the car. it is going back for round three and for my inconvenience they are going to repaint my frt bumper. by the way this dealership gives out a coupon for the car wash across the street.

Sorry to hear that.

What I usually do is that I tape a piece of paper on the windshield with "DO NOT WASH" written on it.

When you go to pick it up, bring your swirl finder light and inspect it.

I am very lucky to have a dealership that respects my wishes not to wash the car. The service person makes a perm note in the system to let anyone know not to wash the car after service.

Our CEO had his new Bently washed by the dealership and the car was seriously marred. Costed the dealership $350 for the fix.
