Hi, fellow Geeks! Spring has finally sprung in the bay area. Gorgeous day yesterday, so I spent some quality time in the driveway. 2012 Audi Q5, Phantom Black Pearl. Nothing really exciting here, but I did want to show why I never hesitate to recommend DGPS.

First effort was checking off an item that's been on the list for awhile...debadging the cargo door. I didn't think to take pics until I was well into it...but this is no doubt a road well-traveled in this community. Here's a shot of the goods before I cleaned off the rest of the adhesive:

Process, if you're interested... heat from blow dryer, followed by a dose of adhesive remover. Rinse & repeat, and then start with the floss (or small plastic putty knife, plastic razor blade....yada yada. I couldn't locate my putty knife, so I grabbed the floss when I borrowed the Mrs.' blow dryer). Work through with the floss, adding more adhesive remover as needed. Afterward, more adhesive remover and a terry applicator make for easy removal of the adhesive residue. I followed up with some Meg's 105 by hand to remove the light scratching/etching. After washing the Q, I applied another coat of sealant to the cargo door, since the adhesive remover and polish obviously obliterated what was on there.

Nothing too exciting with the bath, although I did think to capture a shot of Ze Germans und their brake dust. Rear wheel done, front wheel laughing at me, saying, "Bring it..."

For the wheels & wells: Two-bucket, CG Glossworkz, two EZ Detail brushes, dedicated mitt. I'm pleased with the Poorboys wheel sealant that I applied ~ six weeks ago, but I am contemplating a coating.

For the rest of the car: foam gun followed by two-bucket, CG Glossworkz, two mitts. Yada yada. The DGPS I'd applied (also six weeks back) is still doing it's thing nicely. I did use some of the follow up Detail Spritz spray on the hood, but otherwise....job complete. The interior got a light dose of 1Z Cockpit Pro, and the tires got the same of Zaino Z16. The results....side by each with the boss' car, which got pretty much the same treatment:

I tried to capture a few glamour shots this morning, but the light wasn't all that great.

This one will receive a full corrective detail later this spring/summer, and I'll document the befores & afters. I bought this car in December, after it'd been in service for a year as a dealer demo, so you can guess what their "detail" monkeys did in terms of swirls and marring. For now, though, she's good enough, and IMO really represents what DGPS does for the finish. Not just looks, either, FWIW. I get a lot of bird bombs, and while I'm pretty quick to clean the damage, I've yet to see any visible signs of etching.
