Curious when would it be “to late” to remove a decal from a car in the sense of preventing the ghosting effect? My 18 F150 which is parked outside always, metallic gray paint, has the FX4 decal on it and I was thinking of removing it but was afraid of the ghosting that could be left. Any input I appreciate!

I removed the emblems from my 2012 Altima when I got it sometime in 2016.

Car had been parked outside it’s whole life, and still had the original dealer decal stickers. There’s ghosting one the dark red paint, but no one but me will ever notice it.

Probably varies by paint, of course. But I’m happier with them off.

I just removed badges on my maroon gmc envoy which is an 06 just a few months ago. I cleaned it up with a little polish and then wax and almost cant tell where they were. Little more work and you would never know. So you should be fine.

Are you talking about the color "Magnetic"?

That is a really nice paint color, and also very forgiving.

I wouldn't hesitate to remove the FX4 decals. If Mdjas removed 14 year-old badges on red paint with no problems, you should be good to go on 18 month old metallic gray. :)

Awesome thank you guys! Hoping to do it this week! And yes the color is the Magnetic, absolutely loved it when I saw it on the lot. Good to know it’s forgiving too so thank you on that!

I have a 2015 Toyota, magnetic gray color. I bought it in 2018 from a dealership. I assume the previous owner kept it parked outside (in the FL sun). The dealer removed the original dealer sticker and added a new one. The old one left a shadow. I was hoping I could polish the clear coat, but it appears the FL sun changed faded the basecoat. My only hope is that it will fade over time, but not likely since the car is now garaged almost 24/7.
