So as im adding some stuff to my website. I thought it would be cool to have a tab that once clicked would allow people to learn what certian things are or mean. This way when some one is trying to determine what package to get they know pretty much exactly what they are getting. For instance most people that dont know anything dont know what it means to buff the paint or what clay bar is. So without knowing 9/10 times they will just go with the basic package only because they dont know the difference.

On this site we have a list of definitions for US that explains abvriations so i was thinking if we all put our heads together and added to this post i would compile everything into one post and hope it becomes a sticky. I figure this will also help others who are just starting out and dont know the difference between synthetic vs carnuba wax or similar things.

For instance i was thinking something like this.

Wax: A resinous substance used to protect paint from natures elements and add depth and shine to a vehicles exterior surfaces

Compound:

Polish:

Glaze:

DA polisher:

Rotory polisher:

2 step machine polish:

3 step machine polish:

Paint coating:

Holograms:

Dressing:

You get the picture. Kinda like creating a dictionary for auto detailing.

If this already exist i apologize. If it does please link me because i couldnt find anything like it.

So what do you guys think? Also im talking basic. Like if a cave man steped out of a cave he would know what we are talking about when we are explaining a paint corrrection.

How i plan on compiling the list is by subject and in alphabetical order. Let me know your opionions

I take by the 100 views and no comments there is no interest in this idea :( oh well haha

Check out the VIF from Mike Phillips. The last several pages has something like this.

Maybe you could get his blessing and add that to your website or something.

P.S. AG has many lurkers and they will come out the woodwork only when there's a giveaway contest being held. Don't take it personal.

I dont put this stuff in my ads. What I do is ask them to come to my shop and that way I get the face time with them to sell my self.

Other detailers will see your ad and copy it or beat your price when they know what you are doing.Know matter what you tell them every car has its own areas that need more work and you need to see it.

Also for me I know how much I need to make per hr.So try putting up your rate per hr and then tell them to bring it by and give them a price.

They all say its not bad or its real good when 90% of the time its not what they say. Just the way I do it. Last 8 yrs full time. The thing that will set you apart from the pack is to be INSURED.

Keep it simple. 99.9% of your potential clients won't have a clue as to why they would need their car polished 3 times (3 steps)

As master detailer said showing no price gives you the opportunity to sale. Maybe that way is better for you

Maybe i worded it wrong. Basically i was trying to start a thread where every one contributes and theoretically we create a type of dictionary for detailers to use. I figured this would help those who dont know what certain things are or are used for. Upon completion i was going to organize it all up alphabetically and by category. Once that was done i figured it would be nice to have on my site as well as any one else site who wanted it for potential customers to determine what type of service they wanted.

I checked out the VIF and its basically what i was talking about. So at this point its unnecessary lol. Thanks guys :)

Not really what i was thinking but i do like the link. There is some useful info there. Thanks :)
