This client was referred to me by the other black Viper I completed not long ago. He had a major stripe issue where a previous detailer ran his buffer over them and it discolored them severely. The car is black with flat black stripes so it almost "brightened up" a few spots making it noticeable. They had a lot of water spotting on them but Meguiars M40 cleaned those up no problem but didn't take care of the discoloration. He plans on still replacing them.

This detail was fairly simple, ONR wash, decon, and a "one step" light correction/protection (two passes). Perfection was not on the agenda today but simply to remove a fair amount of swirling, enhance the shine, and protect the finish. And here we go.

Exterior:

  • ONR with a ton of CG MF's.
  • Speedy Prep towel fine
  • Wheels/barrels were hit with ONR and wheel specific black MF towels to ensure no marring
  • Wheel wells and rubber were hit with APC 5:1 & various brushes
  • Tires dressed with Show Room FX White Pearl
  • Rubber seals on doors/headlights/tailights treated with M40
  • CarPro Eraser
  • Meguiars M40
  • Wells treated with CG Bare Bones
  • D300 Meguiars MF Cutting Disc
  • D301 Meguiars MF Polishing Disc
Interior:

  • Vacuumed
  • Dry brushed
  • Vacuumed once more
  • Interior panels cleaned with Meguiars QID
  • Glass treated with Meguiars Perfect Clarity and Buff & Shine glass towels

The tools on the agenda today. ORIGINAL PC and Griot's 3" DA.

The finish had tons of random strikes. The MF/D300 took care of those with ease.

I was sad to hear another local detailer who I know left this like this.

CarPro Eraser took care of that no problem.

And now the afters. Again, perfection isn't what we were focused on here for this detail.

Here you can see where the previous detailer taped the striping but struck it enough to leave some markings.

Questions/Comments always welcome.

Thanks for checking it out!

Beautiful work! :dblthumb2:

Never like taping these off or working around the grill themselves...

Thanks, Mike.

I feel the same about them. The owner expressed some concern for some water spotting on the heat extractors and in some areas around the grills. I just wanted to make sure the backing plate didn't rub against it and turn it to bare or shine like a metal. No worries there with the tape though! :props:

Thanks fellas! WOW, very cool to be featured on AG's FB page!

Better safe than sorry...

It's been a while since I buffed out a Viper, here's the last one I worked on, actually ended up using Microfiber Pads from 2005 and M86... worked great on the Viper paint...

Water Spot Imprint Rings & Swirls and Scratches everywhere...

Great job !!! What a car !!

Thanks, Pat! I totally agree. One of my all time favorites. These are always a joy to take care of.

Nice job, very subtle but visable stripes.

A few aren't a fan but, like you, I like that they aren't loud and you still notice them.
Awesome!:dblthumb2: nice car to!:awesome:
Thank you!
