Hello fellow AGs! I find myself needing a new clay bar. However I see there are many choices,I would like a good size bar 200 grams or so.Bang for buck is a big factor for me.I see some bars are synthetic, how do these differ from standard clay.
From what Ive seen Pinnacle speed clay seems like a good choice.
Pinnacle XMT Speed Clay, detailing clay bar, paint cleaning clay

What are your favorite clay bars, which are most versatile, what the best OTC choices?

My favorite clay is the cheapest one when I need it. Just my opinion....

Pinnacle Ultra Poly Clay is my favorite for maintenance clay. My favorite medium grade clay bar is Meguiar's blue clay. Fairly pliable, and not too sticky, so it doesn't leave residue all over the paint. Also, your clay lube is key. Dodo Juice Born Slippy, Meguiar's Last Touch 1:1, and FK 425 are all great clay lubes that will provide ample lubricity and easy clean-up (with the exception of Born Slippy, which must be rinsed off). Also, Blackfire Clay Cleaner and Extender is a must have product.

They are all synthetic, no such thing as standard clay. They are all made by the same company in Japan too.

OTC? Clay magic is generally the cheapest. They are the one's who actually manufacture the clay for all the other clay vendors. Megs or mothers? Mothers has the better towel. Megs comes with a plastic box and the nifty mini-bottle of ultimate quik wax.
I have and use both, they both do the job. ONR at 1:64 or even 1:32 is a very economical clay lube.

MEGS clay all day! I've never had an issue with it. Other clays sometimes fall apart if the panels are too hot. Plus megs is inexpensive.

All ive used is the Megs clay and its handled everything ive thrown at it so far.

Where does that blue "Clay Magic" fall in the aggressivness scale?

:iagree: Pinnacle Ultra Poly Clay is my favorite light clay. I wouldn't use it on anything really heavy. For everything else Meguiar's Smooth Surface clay kit is my go-to clay. Its pretty inexpensive and is a good well rounded clay IMO. And Blackfire Clay Cleaner and Extender does a remarkably good job of cleaning the clay. I was very impressed the first time I used it
