My wife and I are building a new house and I've decided to start detailing on the side to supplement our income (and as an excuse to spend more time in the garage whet its finished ). I do have a full-time job as a software developer which I really enjoy, but I am going to start this as a weekend only endeavor. I am looking for some feedback from either professionals or weekenders like me regarding my product choice and any tools/equipment I may be missing or that others find extremely helpful in completing the jobs.

WASH
Soap: CG Mr Pink (swapping with Megs Hyperwash once finished)
Wash Mit: CarPro Wool Wash Mitt
Wheel Woolies 3 Brush kit and lug brush
Bug Sponge
Engines, Tires and Wheel Wheels: Megs Super Degreaser
Wheels: 3D BDX / remaining CG Diablo Wheel Gel
Tire shine/Trim: CarPro Perl (Plan on switching to HyperDressing)

DECON
Chemical Decon: 3D BDX
Mechanical Decon: GG fine clay
Clay Lubricant: Not sold at at AutoGeek (to be replaced with another product once I run out)

POLISH
Polisher: GG6
PADS: Lake Country ThinPro Orange(3), White(3), Black(3), red(2)
MF Pads: Megs Extra Cut Disc (3)
Compound: M105, M205

Wax
Megs Carnuba Wax
Collinite 845
Klasse Sealant Glaze
Spray Wax: Megs 156

Interior
Carpet/cloth: Folex
Leather Cleaner: APC
Leather Conditioner: GG Leather Care
Dressing: CG silk shine (I don't like many of the CG products but I do like this one!)

Glass
Megs D120

Small Compressor which I need to upgrade in time as the one I have is constantly running.

Below is a list of items I need or want to get in the future. Recommendations from those in the field are greatly appreciated!

  • Interior detail brushes
  • AIO (thinking McKees 360 or HD Speed)
  • Nanoskin Pad and sponge? I will keep detailing clay on hand for the odd cases where the nanoskin doesn't fit or doesn't cut it.
  • Tar remover
  • metal polish
  • Steam cleaner -- plan to purchase in a few months for interiors and cloth cleaning.
  • Extactor -- Possibly purchase in the future
  • ozone machine -- do any of you use this? If so, do you recommend getting one in the future?

Let me know if you've found a product that works better than what I have listed or if there is something that I have forgotten in the lists above. I am also planning to detail Motorcycles as well as I have quite a few contacts that ride.

Looking forward to the feedback!

Sounds good all in all.Somethings I would ditch would be the nano sponge and the klasse.finishkare 1000 hi temp sealant wax I think is better than klasse.Get fine and medium clay bars. The nano mitt is ok when it's new but deosnt last and gets sticky and tacky.pass on the ozone machine, you will find it sitting on the shelf.folex is ok but griots makes a nice fabric carpet cleaner.Foam cannon will make things quicker as far as washing. For fine expensive real leather,I would get 2 bottles of ultima interior gel 11.99 each.fg 400 and HD speed is a must.Need more microcutt pads a least 8.Need some dressing applicators and the megs wax I would pass and get xxx chemical guys or trade wax by mckees. That should get you started pretty good and you will tweak as you go along good luck on everything.

Thank you for the feedback GSKR! I am planning on updating my microfiber and applicator selection after my first detail. I have enough MF to get by now with the ones I've collected over time which are all still in good condition, but I will definitely want to get new ones.

I may give the Klasse to my cousin. He really liked it when we did his truck last year or I may use the rest of it (nearly a full bottle) and then replace with Finishkare. I've been planning to get a foam cannon for a while. I've never pulled the trigger but I might with my next order. I do need to get more buffing pads, I can see a fairly large order in my future. :dblthumb2:

Thanks again for the feedback!

Buff and shine pads are good.Depending on how much you detail will dictate your pad purchases.

Like GSKR said, Buff and shine pads are very good and good value for the money. I prefer M100 or M101 instead of M105, less dusting and more cut for me. I've found HD polish is excellent and very easy to work with.

Replace Mr Pink with Megs Gold Class wash....works as well (if not better) for about 1/2 the price.....GG fine clay is too soft (IMO)...replace with Blackfire PolyClay
