This was a drive-by customer. I was detailing a family friends Black Tahoe, when another Black Tahoe stopped to ask questions. (ok, the guy driving asked questions, not the Tahoe :D )
I tried to book him there on the spot, but he insisted he would call. We all know how those go 90% of the time.
Well, he did call me Friday, and set up an appt. for this morning. Wanted an exterior detail only.
Talking to him on the phone, I was told they went on a road trip over the weekend and drove through a construction zone. The price went up when he said that...LOL....jk. Oil/tar made its way on the truck. No big deal........so I thought. :(
When I showed up, the truck was pretty dirty. I seen the tar and oil. Wasn't too bad, until I washed the truck. Worse exterior ever. Pics will show. Not one inch was free of the stuff. Apparently, they had spent 2 hours trying to get it all off. Looks like they got a bit of it, but induced a zillion swirls and scratches. The whole truck had a texture to it. Whatever was used to wipe the tar/oil, dried on the truck also.

I tried clay.....the clay laughed at me. So, the whole truck got an Al-Sol wipe down. Al-Sol is about the same as Prep Sol (solve) However you spell it. Took about an hour doing the wipe down before polishing. The only spots that I could not get to, were in the emblems. Horrible!
I did manage to upsell from a exterior to a full detail.:awesome:

Process
Wash with Super Suds (Car Brite) via brush
Al-Sol wipe down
Clay with PB's clay
Clay Lube- Snappy Shine (Car Brite)
Tires and Rims cleaned with Megs APC
Tires,Wells, and Trim Dressed with Super Dress-it-All (Car Brite)
Chrome cleaned with #0000 steel wool polished with Mothers
PAINT CORRECTION:
-Medium Duty Compound (P&B mfg.) (similar to PB's SSR2.5) via PC w/ Green Edge 2k pad
-Crystal Shine (Car Brite)(similar to SSR 1) via PC w/ blue Edge 2k pad

What a big difference! What in tarnation were they doing? :p
Those reflections look great. Love the last shot. Almost looks like you just aimed your camera up at the sky. Great turnaround, TexasTB. How long did all that take?

Thanks guys. Took right at 6 hours. The inside was pretty much spotless, so I did a vac and wipedown.
Did get a pretty good tip too.....
She said they were going to call me to do thier other 2 cars as well.

That's an awesome job, man! What a difference! That should work better then any other commercial. How did your customer like it?

She loved it.
When I start a detail, I ask the customer if there is anything that stands out to them, or what they cannot stand on the vehicle.
She said she wanted a detail with wax....to make it shiney.

She liked it after it was done. She parked it right in the garage...LOL

Awesome turn around Chris!! I'll bet she didn't even recognize it!! :applause:

Damn, looks like they used a steel pad to wipe down the truck, that was some serious swirlage. Nice job:righton:

nice job and you made me laugh when you talked about the clay laughing at you. :)

Great job! Amazing difference in the before and after photos. I'm driving to Austin on Sunday, I'll wave to you from 35!

Good work man....
You dress awfully nice for detailing a car.... :-)

LOL, thanks and thanks.......:D
I always wear a button up shirt to the job. I wear a white T-shirt underneath. I usually take the button up off when I get hot.
I need to get work shirts made.........I always tell myself that and never pull through....lol

nice work on that thing! that was a sheet ton of swirling

Did you notice any marring after claying, I had that problem on a black toyota and I was wondering if it was just the toyota or if other black cars have the same problem.

Yes, I did get some marring, but that was the least of my worries with this beast...LOL

If it were a cleaner, nicer vehicle, I would have been concerned.
I believe it was marring due to lack of lube. The sun was beating on the truck in places, and when I mist it with a lube, it started steaming....LOL
