I finally got a chance to do a review on UDM. Thanks again, Meghan for letting me win. For those of you who don't what UDM is, it's a more powerfull (then PC7424) detailing machine that removes defects faster/yet vibrates less. First thing I did is I switched backing plate for Edgee 2000 adaptor (yes, I like Edge 2000 pads better, and really wanted to test this machine with these pads). I decided to test UDM on my brothers 2003 350Z, as well as new XMT180 wax.
Here is the process:
Engine bay - ZEP citrus degreaser cut 1:1. Simply spray it on, let it sit for 5 minutes, spray a little more. Remove all stubborn dirt/grime with a green brush, and rinse. Wipe off anymajor water spills, spray on AA tire foam. Crank up the engine and let it bake.
Wash - Chemical Guys Citrus wash and gloss. Thanks again, Justin aka Orngez for sending me a sample of it. I'd have to say, I'm very impressed with it. I used about 2/3 oz in a bucket. Washed with white/yellow Shmitt.
Polishing - I really wanted to try Poorboy's PwS. I had that bottle for a while, but never really had a chance to try it. This was a perfect opportunity. car was not heavily swirled, just more areas. So I first tried it with Edge 2000 blue pad. Polish is very nice, but I still prefer XMT 360 over it. Maybe because 360 simply vanishes, almost not leaving you anything to wipe off (yeah, I'm getting lazy). But it still did a fine job. On heavier swirls I tried Menzerna PO106FF with green Edge 2000 pad, as well as on glass. There more I use PO106FF, the more I like it. When we talk about Menzerna polishes, nano polish is THE Menzerna. It removes defects quickly, glazing your surace at the same time. With UDM it works even better/faster then it does with PC. Final Polish I have in pictures, I did not use this time
Wax - XMT 180 by hand. Simply wipe it on, let it dwell for about 30 seconds, and sipe it right off with Cobra Indigo MF towel.
Final Wipe - Finish Kare 425 and MF towel.
interior - Klasse Leather and Vinyl cleaner/protectant on dash, FK RVl poly protectant leather and the rest of vinyl and rubber seals. Interior after pics were deleted...
now on to the pictures.
