Detailed a black Ford F-150 today. I wish I had time to take more pictures, but was on a busy schedule today. I was able to snap a few shots tho.

Wash:
Meguiars Gold class mixed with Detailers pride extreme shampoo
Dodo juice supernatural wash mitt (wookie fist)
Dried with Meguiars Water magnetic towels
Clayed with XMT speed clay using Meguiars quick detailer

Polish:
Meguiars D151 using white LC flat pad

LSP:
Wolfgang fuzion
Plastics treated with Meguiars Water based dressing

1. Evaluated finish in sunlight.

In the interest of cost, I came to an agreement with the owner that this would be a one step polish job.

2. Test spot to find a system that works (sorry for the bad picture it looked better in the review screen on the camera)

3. Decided to use Meguiars D151 with a white LC flat pad. This removed most of the defects. Its a daily driver not a show car plus the owner loved the difference.

4. Same spot as shown before after D151 and Wolfgang Fuzion.

Beautiful job! :dblthumb2:

This is so important; so often detailers get caught up into create a show car out of every car they buff out when the reality is the car is a daily driver.

Match the work you do to what the customer needs, sometimes you might even have to explain to a customer that a show car finish isn't the right thing for their grocery getter that's parked outside and run through car washes.

Thanks guys! Mike, I was very impressed with D151 it allowed me to work quickly and provided great results. Not perfect results, but it gave results the owner loved and made my job faster and more efficient.

I, too, have been pleased with D151. I used it to clean up my 1995 Astro Van, a generic white cargo van (much cheaper to insure as an occasional use vehicle than a truck, for when we need to make a trip to buy something for a house project, etc).

It was about an 85% correction, which was fine, being white. Could have improved the finish by switching pads where needed and spending more time. But the clearcoat is thin in places from UV exposure on horizontal surfaces and I wasn't going to push my luck. It still looks better than just about every other Astro I see on the road, which are typically beat to hell from commercial fleet duty. Even had a guy in a severely hammered one at the gas station ask if I was interested in selling...

Great good Chris!
:dunno: Too early for Meghan to be comprehensive in her posts?

Thanks for your post Chris. Nice to see a good one step correction. It is very tough (like Mike said) to get the balance on a DD vehicle right where you are doing a good job, but not trying to make it show worthy. You did it efficiently and effectively it looks like.

That paint now looks a whole lot better, nice job. Like Mike mentioned about getting caught up trying to perfect a cars paint, I know I was one of them.

Nice work done wisely. Like Mike said we too often aim for a show car finish, and often we only post those detail's... many post's not up because we feel the job was not done to full correction due to customers budget.

Great work and thank you for the pic's!!
