OK let me start by saying this truck was HUGE! I had no idea trucks were made that big for the general public
. This belongs to one of my co-workers and he uses it to haul his Hot Rods to car shows. He wanted it done and I had never seen it until I pulled up at work to get it and was like HOLY COW! This thing filled up my driveway and I knew if it rained I was screwed because I'm not sure I could have gotten it in my garage. Luckily the weather cooperated and I finished it. Not only was it huge but it was red, my first red vehicle, so it had to have Sauveran! Well here's what I did:
Tires: Cleaned tires and wheels with DP Gel Wheel cleaner. Cleaned the wheel wells with Megs APC. Glazed wheels with DP wheel glaze and dressed tires with DP Tire gloss gel. Dressed the wheel wells with Stoners More Shine.
Wash: Cleaned off bugs with Poorboy's Bug Squash. Washed with DP Xtreme Foam auto shampoo and foam gun and white/yellow schmitt. This bad boy was so big that to get to all of the campershell area I had to use my ladder and put my schmitt on a stick (hey that sounded funny!). Dried with Cobra guzzler and leaf blower.
Interior: Cleaned with DP Total Interior Cleaner and protected with DP Interior Surface Protectant. Cleaned carpets and mats with Megs APC @ 10:1 and vacuumed. Cleaned all door jambs with DP Waterless Car Wash. Thank goodness the interior was just dusty and it was easy to clean or I would have been wiped before even begining on the paint.
Headlights: Cleaned and polished with DP Plex-All and WW MF. This was the first time I had used this instead of Plexus and I must say I was impressed. It foams a lot more than Plexus, and I do like foam, and it cleans and polishes just as good and is cheaper. So far nothing in the DP line has disappointed me!
Glass: Cleaned with Stoners Invisible Glass and WW MF.
Trim: Used Poorboy's Trim restorer on all trim and made it look brand new again. This is one product I will never be without. When people see their side mirrors, bumpers, running boards and door handles look new again they are impressed.
Chrome: Used some P21S polishing soap on the chrome areas and must say I was not impressed with it. The chrome and metal looked no better than just washing, plus it was messy. I tried both ways they suggest application in the instructions and again just not impressed.
Paint: The paint only needed minor correction so I thought this was the perfect vehicle/behemoth to use my XMT 360 on, plus I wanted to see how it did on red. I used the 360 with my PC and white LC pad. I must say that when I began the paint work I was a little overwhelmed by how long it might take me and really was not looking forward to it. However after I did the first section with the 360 and saw the results I was re-energized and went to work. The 360 is an absolutely awesome product and has yet to let me down. After doing the entire state of Rhode Island, er I mean the truck (it only felt like the entire state) I thought you know I could stop right here and the truck looks gorgeous and he would be thrilled, but I had to see Sauveran on red! Put the Sauveran on via the PC and blue finishing pad and buffed off with Blue indigo MF and it looked AWESOME!
I found out that when you drive across town in something that big and that red people stare! When I got back to work with it people came out of the woodwork to see it. Heck now my boss wants me to do his Black F250. Wonder if I should just do his for free!
