OK let me start by saying this truck was HUGE! I had no idea trucks were made that big for the general public:p . This belongs to one of my co-workers and he uses it to haul his Hot Rods to car shows. He wanted it done and I had never seen it until I pulled up at work to get it and was like HOLY COW! This thing filled up my driveway and I knew if it rained I was screwed because I'm not sure I could have gotten it in my garage. Luckily the weather cooperated and I finished it. Not only was it huge but it was red, my first red vehicle, so it had to have Sauveran! Well here's what I did:

Tires: Cleaned tires and wheels with DP Gel Wheel cleaner. Cleaned the wheel wells with Megs APC. Glazed wheels with DP wheel glaze and dressed tires with DP Tire gloss gel. Dressed the wheel wells with Stoners More Shine.

Wash: Cleaned off bugs with Poorboy's Bug Squash. Washed with DP Xtreme Foam auto shampoo and foam gun and white/yellow schmitt. This bad boy was so big that to get to all of the campershell area I had to use my ladder and put my schmitt on a stick (hey that sounded funny!). Dried with Cobra guzzler and leaf blower.

Interior: Cleaned with DP Total Interior Cleaner and protected with DP Interior Surface Protectant. Cleaned carpets and mats with Megs APC @ 10:1 and vacuumed. Cleaned all door jambs with DP Waterless Car Wash. Thank goodness the interior was just dusty and it was easy to clean or I would have been wiped before even begining on the paint.

Headlights: Cleaned and polished with DP Plex-All and WW MF. This was the first time I had used this instead of Plexus and I must say I was impressed. It foams a lot more than Plexus, and I do like foam, and it cleans and polishes just as good and is cheaper. So far nothing in the DP line has disappointed me!

Glass: Cleaned with Stoners Invisible Glass and WW MF.

Trim: Used Poorboy's Trim restorer on all trim and made it look brand new again. This is one product I will never be without. When people see their side mirrors, bumpers, running boards and door handles look new again they are impressed.

Chrome: Used some P21S polishing soap on the chrome areas and must say I was not impressed with it. The chrome and metal looked no better than just washing, plus it was messy. I tried both ways they suggest application in the instructions and again just not impressed.

Paint: The paint only needed minor correction so I thought this was the perfect vehicle/behemoth to use my XMT 360 on, plus I wanted to see how it did on red. I used the 360 with my PC and white LC pad. I must say that when I began the paint work I was a little overwhelmed by how long it might take me and really was not looking forward to it. However after I did the first section with the 360 and saw the results I was re-energized and went to work. The 360 is an absolutely awesome product and has yet to let me down. After doing the entire state of Rhode Island, er I mean the truck (it only felt like the entire state) I thought you know I could stop right here and the truck looks gorgeous and he would be thrilled, but I had to see Sauveran on red! Put the Sauveran on via the PC and blue finishing pad and buffed off with Blue indigo MF and it looked AWESOME!

I found out that when you drive across town in something that big and that red people stare! When I got back to work with it people came out of the woodwork to see it. Heck now my boss wants me to do his Black F250. Wonder if I should just do his for free!:p

As always all comments, advice, and detailing tips are welcome. My co-worker was so pleased he said he wanted me to do more of his vehicles. Hope that will include some of those Hot Rods.

That Ford red looks amazing with your 360/Souv combo!! Nice write up and great pictures!!

I haven't seen very many of your post, but you do some awesome work. Did you ever think of using the mother's power ball on those rims? They look like polished aluminum, but the afters look great too... So maybe there wasn't a need for it.

Where are you in raleigh? I see you do some great work, keep it up!

Very nice work, that red is just glowing! You're right: detailing those vehicles is a TON of work!

Awesome work! So how long did it take to do that Beast?! I agree with P1et, that truck is glowing!

ehuth in fact I do use the Mother's Power ball. Well I use the Minipower ball more but due to these rims not having a lot of tight areas I used the Power ball. I have heard a lot of people say they don't like the DP Wheel Glaze because it's hard to get off but if you apply thinly and remove 90% with the powerball it's easy. Thanks for your comments you are one that I always look for in the S&S. Thanks also for the tip on engine dressing from $tree from your van S&S post!

I'll have more posts soon. I have been doing so many details and I'm just getting the hang of posting with pics so that takes me a little while. But I'm starting to get familiar with it so now I feel like I'm bombarding the message boards with my posts, but I enjoy getting feedback from detailers like you so much.

I'm actually in a small growing city about an hour northeast of Raleigh called Roanoke Rapids. I graduated from NC State hence the screen name. Our city is really growing and there are only wash, vac and armour all detailers in this town (and just a couple of them) and word has spread about my work and I have all I can do on my days off and I love it.

It took me right at 6 hours and like I said there wasn't a lot to do on the interior.

I really do appreciate all the kind words but my abilities are greatly attributed to you guys that are responding because I have learned so much. I THOUGHT I used to detail my cars well but after learning from you guys the cars look soooo much better and the products are so much better for them.

Nice work there!! It has a sweet glow! I bet the "armor all" detailers are scared right about now :D

360 is a great combo for red ,it always leves red poping and deep. great job !

Yeah, I know where RR is. I am from Youngsville, it's just as booming as RR is. At least yall have the new Pardon theater.

Man that truck looks good, love the way the tires look. You know I find detailing trucks easy, with the large long panels you just keep polishing and before you know it your done. Very nice detail, that red sure is glowing.

Good job.

Wolf that truck is down right awesome... that red is flaming!! very deep, wet gloss. And the truck in itself it great looking. love the setup with rims/tires. I see something like that every day here in texas!!! as you do more details that should only take you bout 4 hrs. awesome non the less

Dust the more I learn here and the more details I do the faster I seem to be getting. Your review of Justin's foam gun has me wanting one of those as I am sure it would cut down on my time and effort ~ Hey I can justify it anyway I want too;) .

oh man you don't even know until you use it!!! i actually foamed my wife's car twice in 10 mins. I did pre-rinse, foamed, grit guard bucket with just water, yellow-white schmitt and wet to work. As i was scrubbing with schmitt and water it rinsed alot of the suds off, so doing final rinse took no time. really great buy!!!

That truck looks great, I bet after you were done you felt like you just detailed a fleet of cars. I am not sure you could make that red look any better, it looks like it is dripping wet!

Great comments from Meghan....woo hoo! I must be doing something right! Thanks to your advice I am now a DP groupie (have you noticed from reading my process;) ).

The p21s stuff isn't made for chrome... Made for uncoated aluminum and stainless steel, etc.... I've had it around for a while and finally used it for the first time saturday on a set of uncoated polished aluminum wheels.. Overall I really liked it. It doesn't finish as nicely as some other polishes I've used, but for a set of neglected wheels, its much easier to bring them back to life, and makes the final polishing soo much easier.. It honestly finishes well enough for 99% of people though.

edit: Great job on the truck!

Wow that red is wet as heck. You done an awesome job. Them big boy rides kicks my butt. 360 is one of the best AIO products out there.

Wow. That is one BIG red truck. i love it. You made that truck glow with the combination that you used. XMT360 and Souveran together are awesome. I love the DP line too, it never fails me.
