Detailing heavily contaminated/soiled wheels

Aloha!

I know that there are brushes safe for most finishes but would the contaminates scratch the wheels if I decide to use a dedicated wheel cleaner like Sonar Full Effect, let it dwell than brush clean? I was thinking that letting the Sonax dwell than pressure rinse off majority of the contaminants would be a safer route before even introducing the brushes to prevent scratching. Then I would apply more sonax and brush clean the rest of the wheels. Or would this be a waste of time and product?

I wouldn't use a brush, except the Daytona Speed brush, but that won't get the heavy stuff off. Wheel wollies work amazingly well and will not scratch the wheels.

I know what your saying. Maybe apply Sonax, let dwell, pressure wash off.
Then maybe follow up with a good apc or degreaser to finish it off. Im thinking the wheel should be pretty clean after Sonax, but IDK.

But personally im not worried about scratching wheels. Just giving you some options.

I use Meg's Non Acid, spray it on / let it dwell, use Daytona brush and wheel woolies.

Occasional Sonax treatment when I want the "wow" effect of the purple bleed but that's rare and depends on the wheel...

Thanks. Just read up on Megs Non Acid. Looks like I'll be getting a gallon or two.

If you are concerned about contaminants scratching, you could apply sonax and pressure rinse, then go back with your wheel brush and a bucket of car soap or APC. Perhaps this is worth the time on the most delicate wheels, but anything painted would be find with just the sonax and a brush. Customer better be paying for your extra time and effort though.
