When it comes to this kind of question,it really depends your market area.on the washes I would charge a min of 50 and up,heck your going to them and tunnel washes are 25.00 for a lousy job.personally I wouldn't be bothered with the washes.mini detail sounds realistic and the rest of the menu good luck.

Thanks for the reply. I was just worried nobody would be willing to pay that for a standard Wash. Of course we know what a difference it makes but other people who are less educated about it or don't care may not be willing to pay that. Correct me if I'm wrong

Correct me if I'm wrong[/QUOTE your absolutely correct. The promblem with washes is that if you told Jim on Monday that you will be there on Thursday ,and joe calls Wednesday and say I have a boat I need detailed by Friday what are you gonna do,a lousy 30.00 wash or a 700.00 boat detail.I use to do a lot of washes back in 08 had so many customers they were calling me at 9 at night.I had to rebuild without doing washes it took a year but well worth it.start with detailing only if you want to enter the wash sector set up a maintenance plan once a month 75.00 .otherwise you will go nuts, and I find that a 30.00 wash will always be a 30.00 wash and hard to upsell cause if there car is clean that's all they care about, not swirls.I don't want you to make the same mistake.Im chatting with you at 1:30 in the afternoon.Thurs fri sat I will make 1000.00 detailing a small rv.so believe me you don't want to go down misery lane washing cars for 35.00 you will go home beat up and no money.

Attend a show car event and detail a car for free, that will get your name out quickly, although I hate doing stuff for free but it's better than spending 1000.00 on advertisement only to find you will get calls from cheap people.facebook is a start but has a cap at some point.let me know if I can help you further on any topic.

You've been a big help. Thank you, I appreciate it!

Raise the price difference between a car and truck and your interior detail needs to be priced higher. And merge the first two wash levels into one

Add at least $50 dollars to both the full interior and full time exterior

keep it the same you will scare off potential customers.upon inspection you can charge accordingly, but on web or cards leave it alone.people are not solely buying your services there buying into you as well.

Are you saying to keep the price the same?

Raise prices as high as you can then offer discounts

Then you get to be known as the discount guy! Even if your prices are high you could scare ppl away not knowing you'd give those discounts! You then also run into customers expecting that!

Rather be the discount guy and make money then be known as the lowest price in town and not make any money. And you can't get every single customer in the world. I don't want price shoppers, I want people with disposable income.

This is a good thread. I'm going to assume that you did a little research and figured out what the average price for all of these services at comparable places or people are. I would keep the pricing in the same range give of take. I'm working through the same thing right now. That's what I did and it helped quite a bit.

The disposable income folks will know you are cheap if you are too far below what they would regularly spend. You have to think like they would as well, what would you do before you spent that disposable income on a detailer? You would check your options. The rest will come down to your face to face and professionalism when dealing with people, even the difficult ones.

That's why you don't set your price point to be el cheapo in town! You set your price and that alone will depict who comes to you and who don't! Price shoppers are inevitable it's going to happen! So you educate them, and they make a decision! I am proud of my quality as well price based on that and it's very well known that I am! I don't have to over price then offer a discount to attract ppl. I tried the discounts beyond running a special and all you seem to get is ppl looking for the cheap guy that offers discounts.

Another valid point here!

Prices don't matter when it comes to quality work. I live in the lowest income county in my state and I still don't have any trouble charging and receiving $150 for a less then full interior on a small car. And as far as discounts go, that s just to reel the customers in at first, every type of business runs specials so why wouldn't someone jump at the chance to get a little bit of a discount off a professional detail. I set my prices high so I don't need to be estimating my work in case the car is a disaster. If the car is not that dirty then I can knock a little off the price simple as that

Well if it works for you! I just won't risk the "call onsite, his price is usually "x" but he usually will give you a good deal and always has discounts" therefore people calling for that discount or expecting them. Now I don't understand your method on over pricing in case of a disaster then dropping the price once you see it in person as a precaution. I personally feel that if your quoting someone who knows that the work isn't that bad and shouldn't be that high for their vehicle based on their experience and/or knowledge you could lose a good customer. Not to mention shouldn't you have an idea based on questions you have asked and a vif prior to detailing? I see it a better result by stating this is my starting price for x package and upon going through the vehicle with you and my vif I will make my recommendation! Based on that I can either walk away or upsell services and or packages if needed then can explain my limitations, and etc! For me I feel this is better so I'm not scaring people away at first and can sell them better in person and even a test spot if needed depending on work to be done!

I see what your saying I just don't see it practical! At least not for me!

Now the quality aspect in your comment. Maybe I'm misunderstanding you but quality is everything in your price! You can't under charge for high quality and expect to make a living. The same as charging a price for high quality and doing sub par work destroying a reputation real quick.

I would make more packages that show your able to handle very delicate and expensive work, even if you dont really chase it.

Putting
Show car prep:
1
2
3
4
*call for pricing

stuff like that would help validate/build trust with your lower end bread and butter work.
