Hey everyone..
Last wednesday, when I came home from the gym, I was preparing my protein shake like I always do.
Unfortunately, the frozen strawberry slipped out of my hand and I stabbed myself.

The knife went all the way through my hand, damn J.A. Henkels.
I had surgery the next day to repair the two flexor and one extender tendons I also cut.
So mean less to say, I am out of work at the fire dept.
but it gives me plenty of time to catch up on the cars that
I have to do.

Today was the first time I felt okay enough
to go give one a try. I started small with a wash and interior
detail, one of my regulars who I go nuts with every other month or so.

I have to admit, it kicked my butt. My whole
left wrist and hand is in a cast with only my thumb showing.
Has anyone else had something like this happen,
or been really sick and just did it?
I don't know if I could physically polish a car
from start to finish...

Anyway, Life could definitely be worse...:dblthumb2:

Be safe...

A few years ago I had shoulder surgery. Didn't polish, but applied waxed and removed it with one arm. WOW was my arm sore.

Recently I had knee surgery. Polished my car with the flex. Top, hood and trunk were fine. When I got to the sides, I realized I should've waited. But of coourse I didn't stop. I had to sit on the ground with my leg staight. That flex gets heavy when you have to hold it in the air.

Although at the time, I wasn't detailing our car, but I was painting the rotor hats on our Yukon and was bent over spraying happily and my back gave out and I ended up in a heap....

I got up, walked around a moment and proceeded to paint the rotor hat with minimal pain and WHAM it hit me again!

I guess you can call it "detailing" as I was improving the looks of the rotor.....

I had our Yukon on floor jacks for about a week with the tire off! My father in law came over and finished the brake job and put the wheel back on it.

I was in mucho pain and never had back problems before nor had it again, I guess it was just a spasm.... It was fun to shower and go to the bathroom!

The Yukon was dirty for longer than normal.

I should add that I stood over him to make sure he did it right as he would me and cleaned the junk out of it and put my tools away.....so in a sense, I was slightly detailing it by cleaning the interior up. That back sure hurt. It was the same time I won the G100 from Meguiar's and took me a week or so after hurting it to be able to sit in our computer chair so I could see who won the bugger!

Indeed, that had to hurt (didn't add to mine)

Gonna have to call you Martin Riggs (Lethal Weapon series). Hurt shoulders are no joke.....

We have a Sgt. that got hurt here at the jail coupla years ago and he's still hurting! He's gone to the dark side and is in Admin now.....:D

I was just hoping when i took the FDNY test and NYPD it wouldn't be a problem i passed both tests and when i was just about to get hired they closed the hiring was called by the NYPD but didn't take the job.If i would of survived the attacks on the WTC i would of been long retired.I lost a few freinds when that happened FDNY and NYPD if you do a you tube search on Alan Reiss he was the director of the WTC at that time he was in my Fire company he survived.

I didnt know you were a Firefighter.. Glad to have a brother on here. I would love to work for FDNY.. I dont think I could handle the cold though.

I'm use to pain. From 2+ massive surgeries, my body will always be in pain. I really do not even take medication since it never really helps. Oh well.....

I will tell you this, when a very cold cold front comes in, boy, I have chest pain like you would not imagine since a good deal of muscle was torn, in my chest, in the surgeries.

It’s all just another day for me. Ugh

Stephen
