Did you do a Recond mode for this? And when i bought mine they gave me a free gift, a rubber piece to go around the unit so it doesn't slip off stuff.

No, just put it on the AGM mode and left it alone. I was concerned because the unit got extremely hot and was taking ages to bring the battery charge up, I guess that's intentional on a run-down battery.

Eight different products, all mixed up to do the same job................

And yes, the mismatch of bottles messed with my compulsive need for order.

Finally got back into some detailing today. I've been focused elsewhere recently, and had a very busy mowing run this week, so it was nice to roll out the buckets and pressure washer hose today.

With the erratic spring weather of late, I've had to delay attending to the Wildtrak several times, so it was very much in need of a decent wash. Today was a Koch Chemie day. Starting with Active Foam for the pre-wash, which easily dealt with the baked-on road film and bugs prior to the contact wash. Active Foam has been my go-to for this task for a while now, I love how it performs and love the fragrance. I followed with Carpro Reset for the contact wash.

Inspired by a recent TRC video, I decided to have a little fun with Koch Chemie Ceramic Effect Shampoo (CES).

https://www.waxit.com.au/products/koch-chemie-ceramic-effect-shampoo?_pos=1&_psq=CES&_ss=e&_v=1.0

Using CES is not how I typically contact wash. Firstly, you need to rely on the bucket solution to administer the soap as it doesn't foam. Secondly, CES probably doesn't have the greatest cleaning power, hence washing with Reset first. It doesn't really suds up either. Having said that, it's extremely slick, amazingly free rinsing and the "berry-almond" scent is delightful.

On this car, after rinsing off the Reset, I then went back over the now clean paint with CES.

1. Mix 50-ml of CES into 10-litres of water and add a fresh wash mitt or pad.

2. Working in manageable sections, glide the mitt across the surface, then rinse.

3. Continue working around the car, making sure to rinse adjoining panels. I wouldn't let this dry on the paint either, hence working in sections.

4. Finish off with a final rinse to remove any remaining residue.

That might sound like a lot of added work, and I guess it is if you need to wash the car with a stronger soap first. And it's also not how I prefer to bucket wash. But the pain is worth the gain, your reward being a hydrophobic and highly slick feel to the paint. Followed with a little Quick & Shine as a drying aid, these two produce a very satisfying look and feel.

CES is said to last up to about 3-months, so it's great if you want to add some protection without much effort, or as a coating topper as I did here.

Continuing the Koch Chemie theme, lately I've been sampling a bunch of rinse-less wash products as glass cleaners, RRW included. In fact, Rapid Rinse-less Wash was a clear standout among the 10 I tested. Mixed at 128:1, this stuff seems to perform better than a typical IPA-based glass cleaner. A full comparison test will follow, but RRW could very well be my new glass cleaner benchmark.......................and one that only costs $0.70c per 500ml.

Finally, I decided to replace the windscreen wiper blades. Despite these Motorcraft items being the "genuine" Ford part, I don't like how bulky they are and the less precise fit than what the car came with from the factory. Because these are a multi-fit part with different adaptors, they will never have that clean/flush look and fit of a dedicated item, which is annoying as you would think that's the key reason to buy OEM. Not happy, but at least they were cheap.

In January 2022, I bought these Nike Pegasus Trail 3 Gore-Tex runners in a quest for something more comfortable in summer than the Bogs thermal rubber boots I had been using. While not totally waterproof, the Trail 3 proved vastly more comfortable and actually gripped better on Swisstrax due to their trail/hiking focus.

Those Trail 3's have been the hardest wearing pair of runners I've ever owned, so while they cost me a lot, they have certainly been worth the outlay over the long run. After nearly four years and many, many miles, it was time for a new set of detailing shoes. I didn't consider any other brand, I wanted another set of Nike's, again with the semi-waterproof Gore-Tex material.

This time I went with Pegasus Trail 5 in Fir-Clay Green, which had 20% off from Nike direct. Green is probably not for everyone, but I quite like it as a point of difference. And yes, a lot of money for a pair of shoes, but as I said, the last pair have outlasted the price-point junk sold in discount stores and the usual clothing outlets.

The old pair are very much still wearable, I just wanted a fresh set for detailing. I tend to demote runners to wear through spring and summer at work. I know, I should be wearing boots, but I've never liked leather boots, especially the steel cap variety. With the amount of walking up and down I do when mowing, foot comfort is highly valued. So, these will promptly be ruined by grass clippings, dirt and dust.

The Gore-Tex element of these trail shoes has proven to be the best balance for me. The rubber boots being thermally insulated become extremely uncomfortable in summer, like you are roasting your feet in an oven. I also hate having wet feet, so washing cars bare foot or with thongs doesn't appeal. Here's hoping these new ones last as long.

The rain certainly made it a long race, time wise. So close at the end too, what was it, 4 seconds covering the top 3 after 1000km. I randomly watched it throughout the day, but did watch the whole last hour.

I had to turn it off once it started to rain and the three Mustang's started to bash each other about, typical Ford teams hampering each others progress. Watched the last hour though.

I thought the last 10 laps were dangerous with the fog on the Mountain,
I new there was rain coming i checked the forecast Thursday.

If the rain started on lap 1 I would of switched it off.

David Reynolds made mention of the dangerous conditions in the post-race press conference. There would have been pressure on the stewards to keep the race running, and if it wasn't Bathurst, they would have shut it down. It's all about the $$$$ when it comes to that race, and it's the only race that isn't time certain so that the sponsors, TV broadcast, and spectators get their monies worth. But.........................

The number of times petty incidents have incurred hefty penalties on the grounds of "safety" is at odds with what happened yesterday. For example, a time penalty for doing 0.1 over the 40.0 kph pit lane speed. Or when Ambrose was given a drive through for not wearing a balaclava on a particularly hot race day, basically taking him from a leading position to the back of the field. Or being nabbed for the wheels momentarily spinning when being dropped off the jacks. And yet it was safe for drivers to be doing 200 kph with no visibility of what was happening in front, beside or behind them.

I mean, it made for one of the most entertaining races in years, but yeah, pretty sketchy for the stars of the show.

You're right, it's about the $$$ and sponsorship but at what cost?
Possibly a human life or serious injury mind boggling.

The first 56 laps were awesome and I'm glad a some what smaller team won,
I was team Golding FTW but he blew it.

Next year Toyota.

I'm glad a smaller team got over the line as well.

I was team Waters/Winterbottom, I've followed both for years, met both of them. I really want to see Cam get a Bathurst, he's kinda like Mark in that he has the raw talent, but the team undermines that by making stupid strategy decisions. It's one of the reasons why the 2013 Winterbottom/Richards Bathurst win is one of my favourites, it was won fairly and squarely by determination, speed and as always with Bathurst, luck. That last lap of where Mark ran Wincup out to the fence at turn 2 was masterful, it's one of the few times I've heard Skaife praise a Ford driver, "that's the move, that's done it". I get emotional watching this every time.

And the 2010 pole, goosebumps every time at that howling FPR 5.0 V8.

I'm so glad he returned to FPR/PRA/Tickford, especially after being blind sighted by Charlie Schwerkolt.

Here's the deal with AWC.

The previous distribution for Koch Chemie in Australia was abysmally bad, always out of stock, way overpriced, new products would take years to arrive. So, despite AWC being available for a while, it was never brought here. With the recent change in distribution of Koch Chemie in Australia, I thought for sure AWC would makes it way here as a mere formality.

Recently, I was contacted about trying some of the new Koch Chemie products. At the time, I asked about AWC coming to Australia as it's been out for a while now and I was keen to try it. Turns out The Rag Company and KCx were responsible for AWC coming to market and was originally a US-only product. It's since popped up elsewhere, but still not here. Sadly, the new distribution feels the investment in getting the chemical certified for Australia would not be worth the time and money in a flooded market. I'd say that once the new distributor gets on top of supply and demand, I wouldn't be surprised if AWC popped up at some point, just not any time soon.

From what I have seen and heard, AWC is NOT a Koch Chemie Brake Buster. In that I mean it doesn't foam as well, but its also far, far more potent. As we've discussed before, Brake Buster can lack outright cleaning power, well, AWC won't have that limitation. I say that because you need to make sure you dilute it accurately, not eyeballing it or adding a little more for good measure.

So, I'd be most interested in hearing your thoughts on AWC.

Wincup has been a dirty race car driver if he wasn't going to come 1st he would knock people off the track, and claim Innocence.

My oldest brother won a tool box sighed by him.

Edit: Getting our ride on mower tomorrow just as I've F### my back
Now to fix the neighbours could be a battery or solenoid

Shane van Gisbergen was the same, a very aggressive driving style that most of the drivers in the field were intimidated by. If you watch him ranging up on the back of another car, he plays the distraction game very hard, quite often they just let him past rather than risk being escorted wide and into the weeds. Never liked him, even when he was driving a Falcon with SBR.
