The Ranger was borrowed yesterday to help move a pile of waste timber. Upon return, the tray was full of dirt, grass and leaves, the windscreen and bumper peppered with bugs. Oh, and they parked close to a sprinkler, so it was covered in water-spots too. Great! :cautious:

That was most likely where you errored. Lending out one of my vehicles was a mistake i doubt ill never make again.
Many years ago my Brother in law snd Sister in law had something happen to one of their vehicles so they ask if they could borrow a Honda Civic we had. Well later that evening i see my car parked up the street at the house of one of my Nephews friends. So they let their sixteen year old son go joy riding in my car. First thing the next mourning i went to their house and told them i needed my car back. No explanation just needed it back. Not too smart on their part to give a sixteen year old someone elses car.
Other people have no respect for others possesions. Lesson learned.

Well, this is something you rarely hear about regarding Subaru's, or any Japanese vehicle for that matter.

You'll have seen this Subaru many times getting the DFB treatment....................

With just on 110,00 km (62,000 miles) on the clock, a dropped valve wiped out the whole engine today. Two weeks ago, we had been discussing a potential replacement for the vehicle and whether to keep servicing it at the dealer. The last visit to the dealer was a ridiculous $1200 for a basic service. It's also out of warranty. I said do at least one more service there, mainly because Subaru would most likely look after you if something went wrong so soon out of warranty. So............................

The dealer is repairing the engine free of charge. But.....................there are 5 other Forester's in line at this dealer waiting for the same repair.

I don't mention all of this to be sour on Subaru, rather to highlight that even the most reliable and well-made car brands have their issues as well. It's popular to sh.t on European/British/American-made vehicles for a variety of mechanical/quality/reliability problems. And yet, even the most respected brands fail too.

$1200 for a basic service YIKES and here i was thinking $600 for a Amarok
Service was high.

Old Jonny C is right the dealership does bend people over the barrel and go in with "No Lube" 😮

I'd like to be able to say I'm surprised by a Subaru having this kind of issue, but I'm not surprised by this with any brand. Cars are being made down to a price, regardless of what we pay for them. A couple of years back I saw a Prado with the same 4.0 V6 as my FJ getting a refurbed engine, the old one has seized up with less kms on it then mine, I did hear they weren't sticking to the service schedule, so they probably weren't even checking levels. All we can do is look after our cars and hope that if something goes wrong, the dealer/manufacturer will look after us like this one did. So are these guys going to buy another car from this dealer, they certainly seem like a good one, and they can be hard to find.

The selling dealer is not the service dealer in this case. I get the feeling this is a known issue within Subaru, especially seeing that there are 5 other vehicles in for the same thing.

Kudos to Subaru Australia and/or Japan then for just fixing these customers up. They've managed to keep this fairly quiet, although I have heard some rumblings, but without any details.

They got VERY lucky in regards to their warranty and the engine.

The dealership should give them a car any car off the yard for free till they get it fixed.

Found out today they have been given a demo new-gen Forester. The failure happened in Melbourne, a two hour drive away.

12-months today.......................

A lot has changed since that day, it's been 12-months since I worked for you know who. Although they probably suspected it, but I walked out at the end of my last day before LSL knowing in my heart and head it would be the last time. Two weeks prior I had been verbally assaulted with an audience, a situation that keeps running through my scarred mind. I held it together for those two weeks, knowing the end was in sight. By that stage, my body was functioning on adrenalin alone. A few weeks later I was in hospital, the recovery eating a months' worth of my leave. By end of December, I'd officially quit, which also coincided with the imminent passing of my workplace grandmother. The funeral was civil but extremely awkward.

In many ways, the funeral was the final hurdle to clear before gaining my freedom. I now sleep at night, which in itself has been a revelation. My near entire life is no longer a constant state of dread, fear and anxiety.

So that car above represents both pleasure and pain. The pain I went through prior to its arrival, but also the pleasure of being free of the asylum.

A few favourite shots of the Mustang....................

Congrats Deyon, still looking forward to your wheel choice, I'm staying "tuned"

I think when you start talking to your lawn mowers like Tom Hanks talked to Willson the volleyball 🏐 then you have a problem.

It's the Mustang from Gone in 60 Seconds. Come to think of it, at least one his mowers is a Victa Mustang, so it should be named Eleanor.

I'll probably get roasted for this...........................but I hate that movie, and I hate the Eleanor Mustang.

Not a fan of movies with a car theme, always super cringe.
