Yeah I happened to catch this when it aired. I was surprised to see it, haha. There definitely needs to be more detailing related shows on TV - I'm looking forward to ACR.
 
I was impressed, some mistakes in what the host had to say would lead you to believe he was using a rotary, but very well done otherwise

Agreed. Good show, talked about microfiber towels, foam & MF pads, and compound as compared with polish. Not in depth enough though. Host (Tommy I think), did make polishing sound a bit intimidating. For example, he said for beginners it was very important to keep the polisher moving so you don't burn through your paint. While you of course have to move the polisher if you want to polish more than a circle the size of your pad, it's not the case that you will immediately burn through the paint with a DA. Rotary, yes, but the Detailer on the show was using a Rupes.

This showed me the persistence of old generalization about tools and products, even among car guys. But the fact that this was a segment on the show speaks to the desire for information. I predict Competition Ready will find an audience if the TV types focus on the educational aspect. (Meaning let Mike talk and show technique and products).
