I've never tired this product with a dual action, oscillating type polisher. The Ultrafine Machine Polish states on the label it's for use with a rotary buffer as does all the pro grade 3M products.

For some reason, 3M has as of yet, introduced products specifically for use to do correction and polishing work with oscillating tools.

Since they purchased Meguiar's back in 2008, it could be they feel they have that area covered via Meguiar's products for use with dual action polishers?

Here's how I would go about testing and finding out if the Ultrafine polish can be used with a dual action polisher.

First you need to start with a black painted panel and polish it to perfection.

Once you've polished the black paint so that you can see no defects as in no DA Haze or holograms, then place a tape-line onto the panel and polish using a new/clean foam polishing or foam finishing pad and the Ultrafine polish. After making a normal set of section passes to one side of the tape-line, wipe the residue off and inspect.

You might even want to chemically strip this section of paint and then inspect.

If the paint looks just the same as how it started then the Ultrafine can be used with a DA Polisher. If you see any type of defects now present in the paint that were not in the paint before you tested, then assuming you're using high quality foam pads, the likely culprit will be the abrasive technology used in the product.

This doesn't mean anything negative about the abrasive technology, it just means it was designed for use with a rotary buffer, not a dual action polisher.

Make sense?

Looks like you posted this last Friday and I missed it because I was machine sanding a 1964 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu all day...

Sanded with 3M Trizact #3000 then #5000 then compounded, polished twice and then machine waxed.

Normally if I'm behind my computer I'm pretty quick to reply. If you don't see me replying it means I'm either in the garage or offline.
