Red (heavy duty) Clay will marr the crap out of your paint. Plan on at least a 2 step afterwards

+1! Only use the red clay if your car has been through a tornado and small bits of hay and puppies are imbedded in the paint.

I have the yellow clay bar from mother's California gold.
Would that be considered a light duty clay bar?

what is the difference in light and heavy duty clay bars?

is it the hardness?

No, not really.

It's the "type and size" of the abrasives that's used in each clay's formulation.

Good question. I saw the same thing on CG's site and I was curious about this, too. However, I knew I would not go heavy though. I figured medium or light.
