Do I need a backing plate?

I just got my new PC7424 in the mail along w/ some Meguiars W8207 & W9207 pads. Was I supposed to get a backing plate too? I noticed that the pads do not attach. I was told that the pads had Velcro & would simpy "attach". The only thing the 7424 came w/ was a wrech, handle, nut, & some paperwork.

BTW, this is my 1st time using a DA polisher so I am w/out knowledge.

Yes you need one. The pad will "attach" to the backing plate using the velcro.

Thanks. I will order the Meguiars DA Backing Plate...& wait ANOTHER week for it to get here...suppose I'll be puttin off the detailing for another week.
