Do you coat (or dress) both sides of your tires?

The question is more for tire coatings due to having to scrub and clean. And due to the longer durability. But wouldn’t mind hearing if anyone uses dressings on the hidden sides of the tires, given there may not be a lot of coating users.

I’m about to get scrubbing on my winter tires (brand new last November and I didn’t apply anything knowing I wanted a strong coating bond this year). I have a small garage and it would be a pain to have to clean both sides due to my setup. Is it worth it? I’m guessing the tires will last 4 winters (so 4 years old) in their lifetime. Maybe even 5.

My short answer?

Oh Hell No. Lol
Lol, thank you sooo much. I’m praying I get 9 out of 9 similar answers. I’m almost sad I asked, because if someone says yes, I don’t even know what to do with that advice.

I get some collateral Fluid Film on the insides of them when I'm winterizing the under carriage. "That's all you're getting, inside sidewalls!!!" Lol

I briefly considered when I was prepping mine a couple weekends ago. And then I thought "Dude. Get a grip" and wiped the thought from my mind.

new perspective for Wintry conditions.

-Are these Winter tires directional/
non-directional?

My take...?

Yes....!

Just wanted to mess with your mind--lol...

Use the time you saved from doing the back side of tires for someone or some good for someone!

Did anyone say hell no yet? Because I say hell no. I don’t see it so it can be brown if it wants to.

Yes I do on my garage queens

It's easy for me to do both sides of the tires: I just throw the car up on my lift and scoot under it to access the other sides of the tires. It is at this time that I also I inspect the undercarriage and spot polish the exhaust where needed

Always has to be that ONE guy..........

Both sides of the tires? Hold on, there’s two sides to a tire???
Oh hell no!

•And...Since I am going to flip the
whitewalls on my snow grips this Winter:

I have done it. I don't know if I would do it again unless its a show car.

Yay.

I do a less vigorous cleaning on the inside and one coat of whatever coating I'm using on any seasonal tires I deal with.

I usually get a glimpse of the inside from different angles and scuzz bothers me. Plus I don't want anything sticking if I can help it.

I'm going to dissent....

I do my tires/wheels inside and out although I will admit that the insides do not get done each and every time.

Whenever I rotate the tires (5-7k miles) the insides get a thorough treatment. In between, I'll jack each wheel off the ground and give them a quick wipe down typically every second or third time of doing the outsides.

Also I live in So Cal so I don't have to deal with much rain.

Would I do inside and out for winter tires? Absolutely not. But then again, if I needed winter tires they would be going onto a beater... I will never again drive a nice car regularly in winter conditions. I grew up in Ohio and learned my lesson.

Bob

They are directional. They are also by far the snazziest winter tires I’ve ever owned. I’m actually prideful of them because I bought the wheel/tire set brand new last year. So the fact that only my hands have been on them since they came to my possession makes them more special.

With that being said, this car is my baby but it’s a DD, and I’ve decided I’m not doing the hidden sides. If I had a better garage with more space I would consider it (maybe), but as they are right now, I’m coating two in the garage and two in the laundry room and spending the extra time playing Twister in my laundry room was deemed not worth it.

On coat #3, drying.

Three coats finished (made it thick/glossy on purpose to hold up in salt/snow).
