Doctors vs. Gun Owners

Doctors

(A) The number of physicians in the U.S. Is

700,000.

(B) Accidental deaths caused by Physicians

Per year are

120,000.

(C) Accidental deaths per physician
Is

0.171

Statistics courtesy of U.S. Dept of
Health and Human Services.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Now think about this:

Guns

(A) The number of gun owners in the U.S.

Is

80,000,000.

(Yes, that's 80 million)

(B) The number of accidental gun deaths

Per year, all age groups,

Is

1,500.

(C) The number of accidental deaths

Per gun owner

Is

.0000188

Statistics courtesy of FBI

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

So, statistically, doctors are approximately

9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Remember, 'Guns don't kill people, doctors do.'

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

FACT: NOT EVERYONE HAS A GUN,

BUT

Almost everyone has at least one doctor.
This means you are over 9,000 times more likely to be killed by a doctor as by a gun owner!!!

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Please alert your friends

To this

Alarming threat.

We must ban doctors

Before this gets completely out of hand!!!!!

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Out of concern for the public at large,

We withheld the statistics on

Lawyers

For fear the shock would cause people to panic and seek medical attention!

What happened to the statistic on non-accidental gun deaths?

Pretty funny, but probably not factually accurate from my brief online research I just did.

I'm pretty sure intentional homicides involving fire arms are not counted in accidental deaths, and i suspect it to be much higher than 1500 lol

That's funny. My father in law is a doctor, who carries concealed. For the record, he hasn't killed anyone. :dblthumb2:

Thanks for this post! I was getting ready to ask unclestu where the stats were for this.

BTW...You didn't leave out the word "yet" in those blank spaces, did you? J/K :)

CDC says for 2007 the number of firearm deaths is 31,224 for a rate of 10.23

deaths - the crude rate per 100,000 population

2007
Firearms : 31,224 deaths 10.23/100K
Medical Care : 2,248 deaths 0.75/100K

The OP is comparing "accidental deaths" not total deaths...just saying :xyxthumbs:

Maybe the real statistic is how many lives have been saved by doctors versus by a gun....

Seems awfully high. Are you sure it wasn't the NRA that computed these statistics? :D

I'm a doctor and a gun-toting redneck. I don't think I've killed anyone either way.

Being on a car forum it should be known that cars kill more people per year in the USA than firearms. Around ~34,000 per year killed via guns, while ~40,000 per year killed via cars according to the CDC.

Numbers can be used to prove any point, these little games that both sides play are funny and all, but let us not take them seriously. They are entertainment, that is all. Let us concentrate on important matters like hiding the AG order that came in today from our spouses

Look at it this way. Just because somebody has a buffer and calls himself a detailer does not mean he knows how to properly use the buffer and turn out satisfactory results. Indeed, he may inadvertently cause more harm than good. Likewise, just because somebody owns a firearm does not mean he knows how to use it. He also may inadvertently do more harm than good. The answer is not to take away the tool, but to show the individual the proper use and application of it. Education, rather than encroachment, is the proper solution.

”A free people ought not only to be armed and disciplined, but they should have sufficient arms and ammunition to maintain a status of independence from any who might attempt to abuse them, which would include their own government.”
~George Washington

Why would the CDC keep statistics about gun deaths. Are guns a disease?
