I saw Flex on sale for 15% off yesterday.. does AG ever do Rupes sales? Or even Flex for a deeper discount?

I'll do my best to help out...

First - there's very little profit in selling tools. That's just the market.

Second - most if not all tool companies implement M.A.P. pricing guidelines and enforce them.

M.A.P. stands for Minimum Advertised Price.

A MAP policy is a legal document brands (like RUPES and FLEX) use to define the lowest possible price a product can legally be advertised for. It doesn't just set the minimum, though.

Third - here's a screenshot from the newsletter that went out promoting sales on tools. See how I've circled the word kits?

In order to create the perception of a "sale" (remember M.A.P. pricing), tools are often BUNDLED with other items. The price of the other items are reduced or discounted to bring down the total price of the bundled items or "kit".

I think the best way to get a real reduced cost for a tool is once in a while Autogeek offers Autogeek Bucks, I forget the details so I could be wrong, but let's say for example they offer a $100.00 in Autogeek Bucks, or a Certificate for $75.00 - you buy $100.00 worth of purchasing power for $75.00. Do this 4-5 times and now you have $400.00 to $500.00 worth of purchasing power that you only paid $300.00 for the $400.00 and $375.00 for the $500.00 - then you redeem these "Autogeek Bucks" or an Autogeek Certificate for the tool you want.

Again, I could be wrong, there could be exclusions with the above type of bucks or certificates, which excludes tools so Autogeek doesn't net into trouble with the various tool brands.

ALL companies that resell brands that use M.A.P. pricing MUST adhere to the M.A.P. prices. If a company doesn't adhere to these pricing rules - OTHER COMPANIES MONITOR for this type of thing and report you. Then you're in trouble.

So that's how the industry works. And this is why you rarely ever see sales for tools and when there are sales for tools if you look carefully it's for tool "kits", which is usually a good deal, just be savvy and pick a kit that has the complimentary products that you want or like.

Hope the above helps...

:)

Thanks Mike. I'll definitely keep an eye out for those AG bucks.

I will say that I chatted with an associate on the website and they told me that PC and Flex were on sale... and I put the SupaBEAST in my cart and got the 15% off in the cart.

Flex and PC are on sale over at the sister site this weekend for 15% off if anyone is in the market.

The other day while I was talking to my neighbor and removing some transfer off his vehicles door with my polisher he mentioned that he gets big discounts on pretty much all the polishers on the market these days through his position involving auto body/paint business.

I was surprised without even mentioning names he immediately said Rupes, and even Flex. He told me if I’m looking to buy 1 to let him know because he can get them discount priced. Interesting. Maybe Rupes Mille?
