does permatex work?

My friend ran up a curb and messed up his wheels. I saw this at the store and was wondering if anyone use this before and did it work?

Not sure which product you're referring to, but I've used Permatex brand gasket sealer/maker on many a valve covers and various parts.

I'm guessing he's talking about the permatex wheel restoration kit. Sorry I have never used it.

Sorry my friend is out of states now. But he told me that he ran up a curb and now there is a huge scratch on his wheels. He said the scratch is about 6 inch long and he doesn't want to get it replaced because it cost 250 dollars. I think I saw this at the store for less then 30 bucks.

My answer is no. It will not fix his wheel. After the "repair" the damage will still be VERY obvious and visible. But I spotted it online for $18.00

This is one of those things that you have to know what you are doing and have done it a number of times to have it come out right, it's not a matter of having what's in the kit, it's a matter of being able to perform the repair.

However, on the bright side, after he's done 5 or 6 repairs he might get pretty good at it

Have read couple reviews on amazon, people complained that the spray it comes with doesn't match their wheels. Going show this to my friend see what he thinks. Thank guys.
