I ve been noticing the beading has decreased on the hood of my that opti coat was applied in June. We had a little rain this morning so I shot some pics, The side picture seems the beading is a lot tighter. Anybody know if it looks like the opti coat is failing on the hood? thanks

When was the car last washed before this rain? Looks like dirty opticoat. How's it look right after a wash? will it pass the baggy test or it there lots of fallout embedded in the coating?

Point is, there's lots of things to be considered before asking if the Opti-Coat has failed.

Because the side is a 90 degree angle and the hood is more flat

It was washed last Sunday but was driven in the rain this week, the hood doesn't seem as tight when I use the power washer it looks more likes its sheeting and leaves a little beading behind, it feels smooth

I would clay it, then wipe it down with DI water. I've found that boosts the beading and helps you see what is going on.

But to me, that looks OK, but not great. Here is my OptiCoated roof. I just took these pics 5 mins ago if you want to compare:

Those surfaces all have OC on them.

If the car was prepped properly before the coating application, I can't imagine the coating is failing. I always use a few ounces of degreaser in my wash bucket when washing my Opti-Coated car and it still hasn't failed a few years after the application. I use the degreaser to insure the removal of the nasty fallout I get from living within 100 feet of a major highway with lots of truck traffic. It really sheets and beads well after a wash.

Mine already 4.5 years and it still beads like new.. (I just documented it in case you asking)

Perhaps try to give a washdown, and claying?

I washed it and took an updated pic, it kinda looks the same as before

Don't want to throw him under the bus but he is a very well respected detailer. Why? Does it look bad?

Looks good to me. Just wanted to find out as much as I can to base my recommendation on.

Do you know how much OC was used for the car?

PS: If properly prepped and OC was applied properly, OC will provide superior protection for years to come.

I opti coated my car about 6 weeks ago and my beading looks like that also. Doesn't look like "just waxed" tight type beading and sometimes I also wonder if something is off.

Definitely don't buy the excuse that you need to clay the car for the beading to come back.... Yeah maybe after a year but not several weeks.

What was it washed with? There could be a film on it diminishing beading.
