DP glass coating

So meghan sent me some DP Rinseless Wash and Gloss because I was curious as to a N-914 replacement. Well she included something extra, DP Glass Coating.

She either read forums really well or psychic because wasn’t happy with Griots glass sealant (to be fair I got a month where it was rained on 22 days at work with 1.5 to 2 hours of wiper use on those days... definitely not normal usage). I didn’t want to use my Gtwchniq G1 as i will use next fall when I really need it so was going to re apply GGS.

Cleaned glass 1st using DP W&G as clay lube and Griots synthetic clay

Mixed 1/2oz to 8oz distilled

Wiped of then cleaned glass. Used stoners foaming glass cleaner and friots glass MF

Followed up to remove all residue with a ZEP cloth and then Gyeon prep with a MF

No pics of GP but i’m sure you know what it looks like.

Note : glass was polished 1.5 to 2 months ago so thats why no polish step.

Wiped glass dry twice with clean MF and waited 10 mins.

Applied coating with an Autofiber mini saver applicator

Didnt say how much to use so i ended up useing 5-7 squirts per side. Doing each half as section. cross hatch a total of 4 times 2 times each way. Let dry 30-45 seconds then removed and buff with a Rag company 80/20 245GSM.

Curing right now. Thinking if i should do second coat.... thoughts?

Will post shots when rain and report back about durability.

Just windshield. I tried 4 and was really draggy. I applied aditional sprays when that happened

Try a second coat on the glass. It won't hurt. Expect a minimum of 4-5 months with constant wiper use and about 12 months with little to no wiper use. This is what I experienced with the Detailer's Pro version. I suspect this is the same thing.

5-7 seemed like a lot to me when reading, but in reality I probably do similar with PBL glass coating. One can probably get away with less squirts with that, but the bottle is so big and I’m just an enthusiast, I spray as much as is needed for making my application experience a happy one.

I’ve applied 1 coat; 1 coat and a second a few weeks later; and 2 coats 24 hours apart. All 3 application methods worked out well, but I do like the comfort of knowing I have better coverage with two coats, given the liquid is invisible so quickly. Since you have a bottle that will last a while, might as well try two coats?

I applied 2 coats 2 hours apart. Yeah i thought too much too but with applicator getting grabby rhought it couldn’t hurt.

Sunny today and no streaks. Whats weird is windshield was awful dusty today... maybe I didn’t wipe well enough? Felt i was pretty thorough im removal. Gonna wipe down again tomorrow.

May have just been static from the final wipe off. Hopefully that ends with first wash or rain.
