DP Poli-Coat Sealant vs Optimum Poli-Seal

I started a post today to see if anyone else was having the same issue with durability and longevity with DP Poli-Coat Paint Sealant. It seams some users had similar issues while others seem to like it and it's durability.

To take this a step further I decided to put the Detailer’s Pro Series Poli-Coat Paint Sealant to a test against Optimums Poli-Seal.

The truck was washed with a solution of Meguiar's all purpose cleaner, Dawn dish liquid in 3 gallons of water.

Meguiar's All Purpose Cleaner - 4 ounces
Dawn Dish Liquid - 1 tablespoon
Water - 3 gallons

Washing

I washed the finish with a lambswool mitt then rinsed with clean water. For drying I used my new Metro Sidekick blower which worked very well and a nice addition to my collection of useful toys...

Claying

I clayed the entire nose with Meguiar's Mild Detailing Clay and a solution of Optimum No Rinse wash.

Detailer’s Pro Series Poli-Coat Paint Sealant

After shaking very well for 3 to 5 minutes this is what the product looked like. White in color with a pleasant smell.

Note the creamy consistency, not runny or loose at all.

Optimum Poli-Seal

After shaking very well for 3 to 5 minutes this is what the Optimum product looked like. Tan in color with a pleasant smell.

Optimum Poli-Seal on a clean blue Lake Country pad. The viscosity of this product was higher resulting in a thicker more defined product once applied to the pad. Note the peak inside the cap.

I may have put a bit too much on the pad but I'll use it up completely on the right side of the hood.

Both sealants went on smoothly and easily with my Porter Cable 7424 dual action polisher, speed setting 3.

I tried to capture some of the product as it hazed illustrating full and complete coverage. It's difficult to see but if you look carefully you'll see some orbital swirls from the product.

To avoid contamination I used two new Microfiber towels to buff each side to a high gloss shine..

Blue: Detailer’s Pro Series Poli-Coat Paint Sealant
Yellow: Optimum Poli-Seal

Once dry, both products buffed off effortlessly producing a high gloss shine. I took a few shots so that I covered all the areas the product was applied.

Time will tell but I will update this as I wash and rinse so we will see which product comes out on top. :props:

Cool test. I've been using DP Poli-Coat for about 3 months now as my primary sealant. I like it, it's easy to use, but the longevity just isn't their when compared to WG Deep Gloss. I've never used Optimums Poli-Seal so I am very curious as to how this will turn out.
 
I thought these were totally different product.

DP is a sealant where poli-seal is a 1 stepper/AIO.
 
Poliseal has both sealant and carnuba so it will be fair enough. Because it cleans too, it may have prepped the surface better. Very interesting test, kudos!
 
I've always been impressed with Optimum products so I suspect Optimum Poli-Seal will be no less than impressive.


Side Note:

Since I have both DP Poli-Coat Sealant, older version, and Detailer’s Pro Series Poli-Coat Paint Sealant, newer version, I compared the two...

Both products look the same, are the same color, have similar viscosities, and smell the same. There could be differences in formulation however I have no way in determining this...
 
Cool test Bobby!!! Thanks for taking time in doing this!11 I'm interested to see which will last longer.

I'll put my bets on the Poli-seal given the feedback of people with poli-coat lol!
 
I have the old version of DP poli coat (the one in the white bottle with the old label). I can say it has great longevity made it 6 months while going thru a Buffalo Winter. Maybe some thing changed when they tweaked the formula?
 
:props:I like the poli seal myself,,nice product to lightly clean and product, use with da and also with rotory with the right pad will put a nice shine..duribility is around 4 months soo far on few of customers vehicles..not bad.
 
These are two different types of products, as others have stated. I have the old white bottle of the DP Poli-coat and have gotten 3 months from it so far and its not dying anytime soon. Other people have tested the Poli-Seal and have gotten maybe 1 month to 1.5 months of beading. Anyways, kudos for the comparison..

The Poli-coat I have is in the white bottle, and it had not held up. Just a FYI. Maybe the new stuff is different?
 
Nice test I would think DP PC would last longer, OPS looks amazing but I find the sealant aspect it does not last to long yet it is good for an AIO. OPS topped with OOS or OCW is amazing

I knew someday someone besides me would notice it! :laughing: I know and I can't seem to clean it off!!
 
Nice test w/good pics, informative, especially for me. I have Optimum poli-seal but haven't tried it yet. Thanks for the info.
 
Great reminder!!

The DP Poli-Coat Sealant was the hands down winner over the Optimum Poli-Seal.

The Optimum Poli-Seal began to lose it's protectiveness about 4 weeks into the test. I was sort of surprised considering it's advertised to last several months.

I'm not sure exactly how long the DP Poli-Coat Sealant will last but it showed no sign of giving up when I stripped everything for another test...

The Winner is: DP Poli-Coat Sealant :props:
