I purchase nearly all my detailing supplies from Autogeek, so as you can imagine I place lots of orders and I almost always qualify for a free sample. Most of this year I selected the Wolfgang Uber Compound because it's a product I love and I know I'll use it if I ever stop sharing the samples with everyone haha.
Once I decided to start doing product reviews I began selecting different samples. The DP Xtreme Foam Formula Auto Shampoo was one of my first selections. This was an interesting product to use because it was very different from what I usually use in my foam cannon.
On most vehicles I use ONR Wash & Shine in my foam cannon. It does not foam, but because of its water softening capabilities and extreme lubrication it makes a great pre-soak to prevent wash induced scratches and swirls. When I'm washing extremely dirty vehicles that have caked on dirt (and will be polished later) I go to a paint-safe wheel cleaner (which creates an insane amount of suds), pre-soak for approximately 2 minutes, then use a high-pressure rinse to remove most of the built up grime.
This DP shampoo is very different. It has a distinct "minty" scent. Oh, before I get too carried away I'll go over how I used it. I started with a well maintained car, 2 weeks since it's last wash. Typical Oregon weather, rain... Which means sticky road grime was all over the car. I did the usual pre-rinse, washed the wheels first, then added the 2 oz sample bottle to my Foam Cannon and filled with warm water. I set the dilution ratio to the highest soap setting.
As soon as I hit the trigger the air filled with the scent of... freshly brushed teeth? Hmm, interesting. What amazed me the most was how much foam this shampoo created with just 2 oz. The tip of my Foam Cannon was exploding with bubbles of all sizes and the car was getting coated with thick white fluffy snow. I began washing the car with my cuffless wash mitt. Though I didn't feel like this soap offered any extra lubrication like some others, the foam did stick around until I finished washing the entire vehicle. My final rinse left a clean "minty fresh" paint job.
Personally, mint wouldn't be my first choice for a wash shampoo, but I did like how much it foamed and how long the suds stuck around to dwell. I'll probably stick with my current products but I do recommend you try this one especially if you purchase over $95 at Autogeek and get a free sample.
